I doubt the stock cams and intake manifold would be able to take advantage of the additional airflow provided by a bigger TB. If you have a decent aftermarket air intake then you have already eliminated the main airflow restriction. At the stock power level the ford TB is more than adequate. If you look at most of the 05+ mustang blower and turbo kits they use the stock TB FWIW.

You could probably improve the stock TB a bit by doing some polishing and maybe shaving any screws/recessing them...etc. I did this with my stock TB on my '02 Dodge Dakota (65mm), and got it to 68mm with a lightened blade, recessed screws, and some other goodies...

Actually there are gains to be had with a different TB but I just would not trust an aftermarket one with these fly by wire controls. Like I said I have heard too many horror stories with them. However the '05+ mustang crowd has recently started using the GT500/V10 TB and have seen increases around 10 hp on n/a motors and as much as 20-25 on FI motors. This is a great alternative since it is a Ford part and relatively cheap. Unfortunately these will not fit our trucks so we are SOL. I am interested not so much if the one you are getting will make more power but how much it will affect drivability and tuning. I will be keeping an eye on this one.

is the GT500 intake that much different than our's? I know it's a 5.4 S/C, that leads me to think it would share some parts/pieces.

Good question-not sure on the lower manifold but I know the TB is a twin oval as opposed to our single round. If the manifold/blower assembly would bolt onto our heads then I could see a relatively cheap blower with all the take offs these Kenne Bell GT500 guys have. I could see maybe pulley alignment issues and of course tuning but anything is possible.

With your troyer tune do u have to use Hi-Octane gasoline? And could you post a pic of your AF1. I had one on my Lightning and am considering it for my FX2....

There are too many other mods you should do first before the TB becomes the main performance bottleneck.

Mike Troyer can write the tunes for any octane you want, just let him know what you need. Mine are 87 perf, 93 tow, and 93 perf. I'm running 87 perf right now.

I scrounged up a pic of my Air Force 1 installed, but it's kinda dirty.

thats not dirty mine is

getting it steam cleaned probably next week, and with that jlt intake and 3" straight pipe id say the tb is now the only thing restricting it
