Angry Embarasing Moment At Boat Ramp!

Well last night my buddies & I decide to go fishing we fish the whole night & we start heading back at about 9:00 AM, we get to the ramp & dock my boat. I go get my truck, back the trailer up into the water load the boat.

Well it was low tide & the ramp was a little slippery, so I hop in my truck put it into 2nd & zzzzzz So I'm like ok.. zzzzzzzz uh oh, my buddie tells me your tires are spining I'm like they should not spin I have limited slip. SO I THOUGHT! I just got this truck 3 weeks ago, I traded my 04 Lariat that DID HAVE LIMITED SLIP for my new fx2 that does not. Now ready for the worse part. After 20 minutes of having them jump behing my bed & bumber & nothing this young dude in a Titan pulls up with 2 Jet Skis. He looks at me smiles and said, YOU NEED HEP? I had no chioce guys, we grabbed a rope tied it to his hitch & the sucker helped me out! I thanked him & the whole nine yard, so I get home look at my window sticker & see that it saids REGULAR AXLE. I'm like awww DAMMIT! I over saw that when I bought my truck. My Lariat never ever got stuck at a ramp. But what can I do. I guess I will have to avoid pulling out the boat in low tides!
That's my adventure for today! Don't laugh guys!

Gotta watch the tides man. I was pulling my boat out this morning too, and when I was leaving a guy in a toyota 4 runner was putting his boat in. He was taking forever and when I took the a turn to leave, I looked over and saw he backed his boat and trailer into the dock.

WOW, yea man I'm a little disapointed. I'm wondering if there's any shop that can add the limited slip to my baby. I do a lot of towing & it's a must at the ramp!

You can swap out the open differential for a limited slip, no problem. There are some aftermarket ones that are better than the stock unit anyway.

If you're going to do that you might as well get a good limited slip unit, gear driven as opposed to the late model trac-locks Ford installs. If I were you I'd throw in a detroit I would want reliable 100% solid lockup if you're only 2wd and relying on that to pull your boat out.

Slipping on a boat ramp is nothing unusual.

ya definately get an aftermarket locker. ford trac loks suck anyways. My 40,000 mile mustang GT's trac lok gave me a sweet one wheel peel!

Even if you did have it, the limited slips completely suck on these trucks. With the truck on a lift and in park, I can roll one wheel by hand with a little force and it shouldn't be that easy to roll. It should take quite a bit of torque to be able to slip the LS, not just by hand......

It seems like there is a big difference in manufacturing or something. All of the Ford LS's that I've had worked just like they should, even the one on the family F250 that has 110,000 miles on it with no maintance!

I had factory LS in my Ranger and loved it...did damn well for a 2wd off-road. Never once got stuck...did some fairly serious mudding and hills too.

In my F150 I have factory LS too, and one day I was trying to test if I had an initial knock when I went WOT from a standstill in my driveway by having my mom stand there and listen as I floored it. Well, I ended up leaving about 15 feet of solid rubber with maybe 4 inches difference in length between my LS side and the normal drive side. I was quite impressed with not only the LS for hooking up so quickly, but also my ability to lay so much rubber NA!
