Embarasing Moment At Boat Ramp!
Why does Ford still use Limited Slip anyways? From what I've seen on TV vehicle shows, the new Chevy's have a much better traction control system, light years ahead of LS. I suppose we can hope Ford will get with the times with their 2009's. I was surprised they didn't do it with their new SuperDuty's, give them something to talk about regarding a truck's usefulness besides just the tailgate step.
I have found that - in situations like this - it is *much better* to have a smoking hot girl in a bikini driving the truck.
1 - You don't look like a tool.
2 - You get a lot of offers for help.
3 - You have a smoking hot girl in a bikini in your truck!
Seriously though, 2stoked is right -- ease into the parking brake until they hook up.
If you want to restore your pride, head down there at 6p on a Saturday night and do nothing but pull trucks out. We have two big lakes and every dock has a couple of trucks in need every night.

Personally, I've found launch ramps to be very entertaining. Watched a guy drop two Seadon'ts in the water and forgot to put in the plugs. They sank while his gf parked the truck! Then he blamed her. Watched another dumba## forget to secure a ski and it slid half off of the trailer when he punched it up the ramp. Another lake we saw a 9 pass. van upside down at the launch still attached to the trailer. Priceless. Parking brake trick works. Used it a number of times when I had 2WD in the mountains.....

Well it was low tide & the ramp was a little slippery, so I hop in my truck put it into 2nd & zzzzzz So I'm like ok.. zzzzzzzz uh oh, my buddie tells me your tires are spining I'm like they should not spin I have limited slip. SO I THOUGHT! I just got this truck 3 weeks ago, I traded my 04 Lariat that DID HAVE LIMITED SLIP for my new fx2 that does not. Now ready for the worse part. After 20 minutes of having them jump behing my bed & bumber & nothing this young dude in a Titan pulls up with 2 Jet Skis. He looks at me smiles and said, YOU NEED HEP? I had no chioce guys, we grabbed a rope tied it to his hitch & the sucker helped me out! I thanked him & the whole nine yard, so I get home look at my window sticker & see that it saids REGULAR AXLE. I'm like awww DAMMIT! I over saw that when I bought my truck. My Lariat never ever got stuck at a ramp. But what can I do. I guess I will have to avoid pulling out the boat in low tides!
That's my adventure for today! Don't laugh guys!

embarrassed, it happens to everybody sooner or later. Just make sure not to post the story on this forum ---> http://outdoorsbest.zeroforum.com/zeromain?id=1 because you'll never live it down.

1. the Ford LS works great and lasts for a long time. You can take any LS axle and spin 1 tire easily. The LS works by using clutches. As 1 tires begins to spin, the clutches grab each other using friction and transfer power to the other wheel. As long as your spinning a tire slowly, there is little or no friction, so the tire spins easily.
2. I highly recommend getting the LS for your rear-end. it's a wonderful thing. plus, it makes some fun roostertails when you're spinning out on grass/dirt.
3. The e-brake thing is pretty cool to. I haven't used it in a long time, but it does work. You'll probably need to engage it enough that it will almost hold the truck still.
4. I wouldn't be embarrased. I've blown a 351 in my Bronco at the boat ramp before. We had a huge cabin boat that required us to back up until the tailgate was in the water so the stupid thing would float off the trailer. I then stupidly turned the motor off. The water ran up the tailpipes and into the engine. She went boom when I turned it over.
The time to be embarrased is if you do it again. Learn from the mistake and mod your truck to make it better.
oh yeah, the Chevy does have an interesting traction control thingy, but only on the highend stuff. For the everyday joe, it's a plain old LS. They just call it Posi.

hey, just be glad a motorcycle didn't offer to pull you out, although that would be a site to see.
and like tylus mentioned, keep your engine running if your tailpipe is under water.
I like how there is actually a lot of useful into in this thread
