No, the tansfer case is the gear box that bolts to the back of the transmission that the front and rear drive shafts come out of. All the power going through your transmission has to go through it before making it to the wheels...no matter if its in 2wd or 4wd. Thats why I question if a transfer case desgined for a 300hp engine can handle 750hp....much less 750hp and slicks. I highly suspect that eventually that will be the weak link in your driveline and you will have to address it sooner or later. I really doubt a 4wd launch would be worse on it than 2wd launch on slicks. If you cant break traction your going to break something else unless its all up to 750hp.

I agree, you will need a longer driveshaft and the yoke from a 2wd but if 4wd has no purpose on your rig or you'd like to save money just sell your tcase and do the transform. Disassembly is quite easy.

I was thinking the same thing but hated to be the one to suggest it. The sad part is you will still have the heavier 4wd stuff in the front. If you loose the T-Case go a head and swap out he front axel for a 2wd front suspension and loose a ton of weight...a ton of weight in the last place you need it.

Some day that's what I would like to do but for now it's lighter without the T case/front diff/axle shafts and front drive shaft. And I can always put it back in!

If you decide to take the 4WD parts off I know there are many 2WD guys on this website willing to take the parts and do the swap... plus you could lose some overall weight...

I have had no luck at all trying to sell my 03 4X4 parts!! So I just gave up and decided to just save them in case I ever want to lift it and put big tires on.

Josiah i live in Hatboro,PA just 10 miles from Philly. We get a lot of snow here and i really would like to keep my 4WD.

Remember guys, that's my daily driver and i don't want to turn my truck looking like this:

I want my truck to be as fast as possible but at the same time reliable, confortable and safe enough to put my wife and kids inside.

At this point if someone knows how to make a 4WD bullet proof tranny, please let me know.

Thanks for all comments guys.

i haven't thrown my $.02 yet. the fact is...

if the rear suspension and tires take the majority of the power with slicks, and the front uses regular street tires, there is little power going to the front. just size the width of the front small enough to save the t-case while helping a little.

Bill, launching in 4WD works so good that there is no tire slippage at all.
I think that even with 700RWHP i wouldn't need slicks if i could get a forged transfer case and launch in 4WD.
