Please list the year, model, mileage, and acknowledge if your truck has any of these known problems. 1. Spark plugs break 2. Brake rotor problems 3. Transmission shudder 4. Elec. window motor failure 5. Cam phasers ticking 6. And feel free to list any other problem your truck may have. Mine is a 04 xlt 5.4L 53K with plug breakage, trans shudder before I got my tuner, and I have 1 elec.motor that doesn't roll up, and the other is slowing down. Thanks

What you need to realize is that no matter how much research goes into a vehicle, some will still have problems. There is no perfect vehicle and there never will be. That being said I think these trucks are very solid and quite reliable. It seems worse here because everyone is posting problems and it seems like they all have problems. This is not the case, I assure you that a majority of them are trouble free. By the way:
2006 XLT 5.4 Supercab with 9000 miles.
No problems as of yet, knock on wood.

Hmmmm....Let's see.

1.Clutch pack replaced in rear diff.
2.PCM reflash to fix throttle lag.
3.Front pads, rotors, and calipers to fix a steering shimmy when braking.
4.Drivers side window switch assembly replaced.

These things came up in the last few months and need to get looked at before warranty runs out (ends in January).

5.Clunk from driveline when turning a corner (feels like one rear wheel dropped into a hole).
6.Clunk from right front wheel when turning.
7.NASTY grinding noise from drivers window when moving up or down (probably regulator).

Outside of all this it's been a perfect truck! I'm dreading no longer having warranty!

05, 4x4 Screw Lariat, 75k km's (47 k miles)

1. I won't be changing them b/c my lease ends in one year
2. No
3. No
4. Maybe, my drivers window sometimes won't come up when it is all the way down. It will take 10-15 pushes of the switch before it comes up.
5. Yes, fixed by dealer
6. The parking brake would stick due to a crimped cable when it was new.
7. Almost 2 years old and I am on my third battery. My third one is a non-motorcraft battery, I will see if it can last longer then 11 months.

2006 STX Scab 4x4 4.6L built @ Norfolk.

I have not experienced any of the mentioned problems, only a bas radio speaker in the driver's door. But then again, I've only put 5k on it so far!

I have 2 '04+ F150's. One is my '05 XL Reg Cab with 4.2 automatic that has about 46K on the odo right now and it has been flawless. The other is my wifes '06 STX Limited Edition SCab flair side with 4.6 auto with I think around 7k on the odo and so far it too has been flawless with the exception that it does have a little of the bed shake but its not bad enough to even worry about.

I dont feel that these trucks have had any more problems than any other vehicle does after a total redesign, there are going to be bugs that need to be worked out. Thats why I specifically didnt buy a '04 and waited on a '05. I would never buy a first run year of a new design. And the reason that these boards seem to be over run with problems is because the owners that dont have problems dont have a reason to post anything. I love both our F-150's and wouldnt want any other brand

Are all of these somewhat easy fixes? How hard or expensive is it to fix the cam problem, and what about the rear diff problem? What exactly is the tranny problem? Are most of these problems associated with the 04's, than the newwer years?

I know prices vary from state to state, but the dealership quoted me $1366 to replace the cam phasers. Said they could do it in one day.

Wow. There is alot of diversity in this thread. Most everyone on here loves their truck, but it does appear the guys with no problems generally have low mileage. And yes it is odd that problems occur just after your warranty is up. I understand first model year vehicles have bugs to be worked out, but what about the guys with 05 & 06s having the SAME issues as me with the 04? Do you think they solved the sparkplug problem on the 07? Probably not. I just don't like having to pay alot of $$$ (usually over $1K) for a tune up if it goes bad. And another $1300 if the cam phasers go too. Anyone see what the resale value is lately? It's not good, and going to get worse once word is out.

Actually the guys with the problems are the ones with the 5.4.
The 4.6 is pretty much bug free.
Even the vibration doesn't happen to the 4.6. Only 'bugs' they have involve the brakes and even that is fairly rare.
I see a few posts about problems coming up right after warranty ends. That is out of thousands of members.
Extrapolating a little are we?
Chris
