Reinstalled my Auto Springs......

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Friday I reinstalled my Auto Springs and put my truck back into its previous configuration. I had removed them, installed DJM 2" drop lower control arms, removed the 2" blocks from the rear, installed 2" drop Ground Force shackles, and had my rear springs dearched 1" to attain a 2"/5" drop on my '04 Supercrew 4x4.
Did make one mistake while going back to this configuration though. We did it at my friends tire shop and when be aligned the truck and set the steering wheel straight we somehow did NOT tighten the rear lower control arm bolt on the passengers side and while I was driving along yesterday the control arm moved about 1 1/2" and the steering wheel took a quick 1/8 turn out of where it should be. I will go back tomorrow morning and realign it and this time when we tighten the bolts in the control arms I may even put a small tack weld on them as an added measure of security...
If anyone is interested I am going over to the classifeids right now and listing all the parts I removed as I will not be going back to the lowered look..

I liked playing with LOGO's as a kid too. Any particular why you decided to change back?

As a matter of fact there is a very good reason. I just accepted an offer of employment with a major tire manufacturer and of course I want to run their product on my truck. The one I chose is a 315/70/17 and in order to run them I had to lift the truck back to where I had it a year ago..

Good choice. Always good to impress the employer.

LOGO's? Someone's got logo on the brain. I think you mean LEGO's.

How horrible is that install Marc? I have a 2" kit sitting in my garage right now... still trying to decide if I'm going to do it or not -- I'm VERY worried about wear and tear.

I wouldn't worry about it RP, since your not offroading.

The install is not hard at all, especially since you have the AS vs the Daystar. If you have the tools at hand and your capable than why not? Just take your time and don't rip the ball joint boots. Have you thought about just removing the 4X4 blocks? . . or would you rather be sitting higher?

Knowing you, and knowing your attention to details it will not be a problem for you pal...Just take your time and make sure you have the proper lift equipment and you will be fine...If you get in trouble give me a call and I will come down if need be

RP,
I have had my off-set 2 inch AS for about 16K without any problems with excessive wear on the ball joints. I don't even worry about the half shaft angles, as they have plenty of articulation. I don't know about longterm issues, but I don't think that many have enough miles to say one way or another.
