bhf150 did an amazing install of one. His e-fan indicator lights are right next to it, the pushbutton replaced the cig lighter. I'm sure he'll chime in after the beating you guys gave him for blowing his engine

Typically you need to have a transmitter within a certain range in order to be able to turn a car on and off with a push start system, like on a BMW or newer cadillac or corvette..
Or an '07 Camry, such as my wife's... ;-)

I did this in my '00 Focus. I used a series of hidden switches and pushbuttons to trick the system.
I had one switch to emulate the "on" position and a pushbutton to emulate the "start" position. Both were hidden under the dash, but within reach.
I also had to bypass the Securilock system.

you need to figure a way to use the pats system with out having to put the key in, not sure how but that would probably be the best way to do it

The only way to bypass the PATs system is to use one of the many bypass modules. Like used on remote start systems. Commonly when doing push start systems you'll have to put the key in and turn it to the run POS. then push the button. This way your still using the PATs system and joe cant just jump in press the button and go. You'll need a relay, push button, and wiring.

I bypassed the PATS/Securilock system using a jumper wire in the wiring harness. Wasn't that complicated. No module required.

The initial reason i installed a PB start was that my key was stuck in the ignition. It took 2 weeks to get a new ignition assembly in, so in the meantime I used the PB start.
