Every 3000 miles since I do a lot of city driving and driving short distances (I live in a small town).

Every 5K miles just like the dealer recomends and that's where I take it so they have all the maintennance records just in case. $18.95 with a coupon off the internet every time. That also includes filling all fluids and general inspection.

I did my first oil change at 700 miles and will change every 3000 miles with Mobil 1 5W20 and Ford Oil Filter.

My first change came at 2100 before my first trip towing the camper. The second was at 5500. It will be every 4000 from now on with a tire rotataion every other oil change. I use Motorcraft 5W20 and FL-820S filters. I have followed the same routine on my '99 and it has 134k and still going strong. I got 91k out of the original GoodYear AT/S tires!

You have got to be joking. That is absurd. What a waste of oil. lol 1,000 miles. I'd be changing my oil almost 3 times a month.

I appreciate the replies guys. Since I do some towing every now and then I will stick to the book and change it every 5,000 miles.

I changed my oil at 1200 and again at 2500 to make sure the oil was fresh during break in. I again changed the oil at 5k, 10k and 15k using 5w-20 motorcraft with motorcraft filter all done at the dealer for $8 out the door for each oil change.

No worries MGD...just oil that sucker down every few days, can and a half should do it...the oil from that will refresh the engine oil in no time..
