Since everyone is putting in the new headlights, could someone post the link on how to switch the headlights or a small writeup on how to install the new bulbs. I know that it would help me and probably others. Thanks.

They ran ~$12 for a set of 2 and are part # 3157AST http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...l/ProductLine/

To install the headlights on a 2005 model you need to expose the 3 retaining bolts, one on top, two on the sides...
Remove this

to access and remove these...

Once the headlight assembly is loose, unclip the tab and pull the assembly straight out, towards the front of the truck. It may feel like it's still bolted in, but thats just a clip on the lower bodyside of the headlight assembly that will pop out when pulled.

Now that the the headlight assembly is out, disconnect the wires by pulling the plug straight back. Once that's disconnected turn the headlight bulb counterclockwise and remove it.

Install the new bulb in the reverse manner.

For the foglights theres nothing to unbolt or remove, couldn't be easier! Locate the foglight bulb and turn it counterclockwise and pull straight back. Swap bulbs and replace. Finished!

PS: Some photos are mine, the others are from the Ford F-150 Manual and StylinConcepts.com. Instructions for replacing bulbs can be found at both places as well.

This is great news and I'm heading off to my local Autozone this weekend.

Couple of questions:

Is installation just a normal plug-n-go for both the headlights and fog lights or is there a little elbow grease and thinking invloved? [Edit: answered]

Now I'm guessing there are two different bulbs for the normal [driving] lights and the high beams correct?

Another ?... the manual calls for 9008 Replacements, so why is everyone useing H13?

Some answers... This is just a plug and play replacement. Headlights require about 10 minutes or so, and foglights can be switched out in about 30-45 seconds. One bulb serves both normal driving and high beam operations.

Also: Heres a little diagram showing replacement of the foglight bulbs...

9008 = H13. Why the different numbering systems, I'll never know.

After one of my foglight bulb blew out, I went to AutoZone store and noticed that Silverstar now offer UTLRA light Silverstar, it costs about $37 bucks twin 9005 (for fog lights).

It said it gained about 25% light nightvision. I havent try it but i ll wait till bulb blew out..

Just wonder any one has it in their truck?

YOMAN!

ah the mustangs too...well, when it snows 12" they're not gonna make it far-so they should just volunteer their headlights, foglight bulbs to the cause... or use them as bartering tools for when i pull em out of the ditch or the tailgate yard tomorrow

Does anybody have a pic comparing the 9005's to the 9145's? I'd love the extra light, but I don't want to be "That Guy" runnin the road blinding all the shorties with my High-Beam Foglights!

I did the same, except I got the 3157A ST. Hides the amber color until lit... Do yours look amber or not?

Has anyone tried using the 9006 ST (Low beam) bulb for their fog lights? Would this even be an improvement over stock?
