radar detector, 400w amp, 1 set of piaa 520's at the time... the stereo could run for about 25mins before i would have to turn it off to get the truck to turn over- tailgating sucked for the first half of the season.

upgraded to a 1000 cca battery, added another set of piaas, and that baby cranks up at -40 degress farenheit after sitting for three days like it was 85 outside. have run the stereo for over two hours and she starts without hesitation...

It sound like battery abuse to me.

Running accessories without the engine running is killing your battery Sound like you need a deep cycle (optima). Althought some starting batterys can do this, They are starting batterys.

My mom just replace the oem ford battery in there 95 F150. 11years old and around 100k miles. I think ford/motorcraft does a good job for a starting battery.

I don't belive the alternator is designed to recharge drained batterys, just to maintain them. You cold be hurting it.

About 6 1/2 months..... 6966 miles.

Truck sat for about 10-14 days without being started (I was recovering from surgery). Went out and it was dead as can be.

I did have a rechargable mag-light in there plugged in which probably caused it.

Replaced under factory warantee, now 5 months and about 12,000 miles later this one is doing fine.

3 Years, 63,000 miles so far... I don't have any after market stuff but I do run the radio a lot with the engine off and it'll go for hours. (some of the foot ball games are only available on the XM Radio).

Mine lasted only a few months as well. No extra power sources but my Sirius tuner, didn't sit either, just crapped out. The weirdest part is I had gone out to about 4 places running errands and only going home from the 4th place it didn't start. I managed to get it going again and when I took it to the dealership they couldn't get it started to get it from my parking spot to the service bay. I guess I took it in at the right time.

My old 2000 lasted a little over 5 years and 80k+ miles. My current truck I will have it a year in November it had a build date of November of 2004 so it sat around for about a year before I bought it. So far its still going strong.
