This is a VERY common problem on the 04's. I don't know if it's a flaw in the fabric or something else but, ANYTHING that touched some of them (early production I believe) would show up... Rain would thrash them!

If you're within warranty, I suggest that you let them look at it before attempting to tackle it on your own -- I say that only because any type of product that you toss at it will only make it worse.

Resolve

I used 1 part resolve and 1 part filtered water. Spray the entire part of the seat that you are cleaning even if it's not all stained. Spray the surface area of the bottom or top seatback then use a shop vac to pull out excess moisture. Let the truck sit with the air conditioner on so the seats can dry completely and evenly.

Huh, I never thought to put up a post about the stains, I thought it was normal. My seats are TRASHED! Like the others said, any thing I tried to clean them with just ended up making a bigger stain. Like RP said, water has done a number to them. Ive had my truck 2 and a half years and with almost 72k miles, my drivers seat is starting to wear through. I was thinking about getting them re-upholstered. Not sure though. I dont think the extended warranty will cover the seats.

I had the same problem on my 04. It was a small area that was stained, so I used a foam cleaner called Tuff Stuff. It seemed to work pretty well.

Tuff stuff usually works for me on the water stains. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 try's though. Definately getting Leather next time.

Try some oxy clean. But you got to get the whole seat damp or it will just make it worse.

Hey,
I am going to try these suggestions to night. Man that seat fabric sucks, i thought maybe the person before me just spilled stuff all over them, but after spilling a sonic water and staining my seat I thought different. I am going to try to get pictures of my truck on here tomorow, later!

The only thing that lifted out stains for me was lifting out the entire fabric and replacing it with eBay takeoffs... The fabric is just poor quality. Even the cleanest RO/DI water (a TDS of 0) would leave a stain.

I'm pretty sure the 3yr/36k warranty has nothing to do with these seats. I think this would be considered a wear and tear item.

Well actually the seats are not really worn(or torn), the stains are due to a factory defective item, which should be covered under warranty. Ford actually invented a fabric that stains due to water, amazing.
