Anyone add an aftermarket sunroof?

We had a dealership install one on my wife's last car because they lied to us.. We never had any issues with it..

..But has anyone put in an aftermarket sunroof on their F150? Any issues? How much est?

Aftermarket sunroofs can get kinda dicey at times. If you do run into problems with it, finding someone that can repair it and get parts for it might be tough. And besides, I can't see cutting a hole in a perfectly good roof. From a parts and logistics standpoint, it'd be easier if you had the factory offered sunroof from the get-go.

I agree.. however it was a 2K option if I remember correctly.. Which was just rediculous.

I know, and that's probably the motivating factor for people to get aftermarket roofs installed. I've had to repair aftermarket sunroofs from time to time, and they're a pain in the *** to get parts for. I think that's the biggest problem with 'em.

My dad had one installed on his truck, the place did a real good job but you sure pay for it. Its 1000 bucks for his, but no leaks or any thing and its a really nice quality. I might be getting my moonroof from there once i get some of my preformance stuff on.

It is only a $995 option.

I had the sunroof in my '05 and decided against it in my '06. I rarely used it and found it to be a waste of money. When I need fresh air, I just crack my windows, I hated opening the sunroof because I didn't like the sun beating down on me. It's hard enough keeping these trucks cool in the summer to have to battle the sun coming directly in from above. The cover was closed on mine 99.999999999999% of the time, not to mention it's just more glass to have to keep clean!

I have the factory one and I love it. As for aftermarket, my friend installed one on a 2005 Cheby Crewcab and it leeked like a sieve and no one could get it fixed right. That was one of the primary factors on him trading in an 11 month old truck. Buyer beware I suppose. Make sure it is a good shop and look for samples of thier work. When it's all said and done it very well might cost more than the factory option one would have but I understand it's too late for that now. Best of luck

Nope, its just like countyboy04 said "It is only a $995 option", and it was an option on my truck which I have and love it.

I wouldn't mind having a sunroof, but I passed on the factory sunroof. It's just too small (I mean compact cars have twice the size), and I couldn't see spending an extra $1k on a sliver on sunlight. I had the dealer ship in a truck exactly like the one he had, but w/o the sunroof.

In my area, we have a shop that stocks the exact same sunroofs as Ford uses from the factory. They are Webasto brand. At least that's the brand in my Focus. I asked a shop about doing this for me, should I be interested and they said that if I gave them $995 they would install one for me. Still tossing the idea around, they do great work.
