Have a safe trip, and give us a full download when your back. Looking forward to hearing all about it.

Thank you very much! It feels like such an accomplishment. There are so many people to thank.

TeckBargains - for the equipment help
Mike - for guidance
Ducatiboy on avic411.com for making a bypass and overnighting it to me
Myst and cdees for having step by step instructions on nav unit installs.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY my hat is off to Steve. This guy is one of the nicest guys on here. Whose else would stay up till 2am online and make sure everything was going well with your install, and then when you have a problem (or multiple ones), walk you through the fixes and take almost 100 screen shots?

I am eternally greatful to Steve for his help and I surely could not have done this without him. That be said I will extend this wonderful assistance to anyone else that needs it with a Z1 install.

MY BIGGEST LESSON: Install the wiring harness and everything first just as the instructions say. ONLY THEN should you install the bypass and follow its instructions. I tried to do both at the same time and it did not go well.

Well I need to pack and make a trip to Radio Shack for a resistor to put on the sub wire so it doesn't thump when I turn the truck on.

Thanks again everyone and if I forgot to mention you I really apologize I'm just exhausted and still have a lot to do to leave on time!

I promise I'l have pics next week of everything, I took quite a few!

I'm really glad things worked out duke. Fortunately I was also installing my bypass so I got to take out the h/u and take some pics..glad they helped out. Hopefully those blue lights won't stick out as much, but I can assure you that the overall features on the device is well worth it. Just a little advice, naturally the Navigation doesn't automatically know your prefered route when going to familiar places. If it gives you a different route that you rather not take...you can choose to ignore it (it has this learning capability so it will use the route you take) or you can choose to look at the alternative route options and select the one you want (it will remember your choice and use that from now on). I could relate to your frustration because of the mistake my shop made so i had to go in and rewire and fix everything. Fortunately this topic will be here as valuable resource for anybody who decides to take the route of installing the Z1 themselves. I was glad to help and hopefully you won't have to rip your hair out when you install the rear camera and Bluetooth some time in the future.

Hi guys. I read through this whole thread and Im still not sure about the vehicle speed sensor wire. I have an 02 Harley F-150 and a Z-1 and my factory radio had 2 plugs, one I assumed was for the factory changer. The factory plug that the metra plug plugs into does not have a gray/black wire but the other factory plug does. I was told on another forum that the wire was gray/black and was on the radio harness for the auto volume, but the only one I see is on that changer plug. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Z1 doesn't support speed sensitive or auto volume. The speed sense wire is tapped into for the GPS.

Hope this helps. (Seems like all my big threads are coming back to life this week.)

A great place for help on the Z1 is www.avic411.com and then go to their forums.
