Also, wouldn't that thing just be sucking in hot air? I can definitely see how it will pull more air, but it will be alot less dense hot air.

Hmmm I think I have more of a warm and fuzzy with my Volant and Edge at this point.

Ok i talked to JLT. That is with NO performance tuning, just adjusting for the maf placement with the new intake.

I'm trying to get them to send me some charts, conditions etc.

New JLT Ram Air Intake for the 04-06 5.4 F-150!

At JLT we decided to break from the norm with this all new Ram Air Intake for the new 5.4 F-150 trucks. Until now all cold air intakes were the same old boring 90 degree bend and a filter behind the driver’s side headlight. Not anymore!

With this totally new intake from JLT you get something different and something better. We shorted the distance the air needs to travel, got together with SCT for a tune and came up with huge power as a result.

You get a high quality 89mm billet aluminum Mass Air Flow housing, that has been C&C milled to hold your stock MAF sensor, a large JLT heat shied designed to block the radiant heat from the engine at low speed and the HUGE, in your face, S&B life time re-usable filter, shall we say, Corvette LT1 style in front of the throttle body.

We joined forces with the best at SCT to make the perfect power package. The SCT X-2 tuner comes pre-loaded with JLT specific tunes in 87, 91 and 93 octane ratings. With the SCT X-2 tuner you can make 100’s of adjustments for gear and tire changes, shift point changes, check trouble & clear codes and on and on. Read more about the X-2 on the SCT page.

At JLT we tested this kit over and over and showed repeated results in the 25-30+ HP gain and an amazing 40-50+ TQ gain at the rear wheels!!!! Check out the gains at only 3100 RPM, 35+HP and 55+TQ!! This is power you can feel, take a look.

This comes with a complete JLT RAI kit, the SCT tuner loaded with 3 performance tunes) We have seen gains of 30-40+ HP with the 93 octane tune.

Product Info: The XCalibrator 2 allows 2 analog inputs when data logging (such as Wideband O2s). Also, because everyone should know what those Check engine lights mean, the XCalibrator 2 allows you to read and understand these codes the minute they appear so you can get back to enjoying your favorite vehicle.

-TUNE your own vehicleFOR MAXIMUM BOLT-ONPERFORMANCE!

-MONITOR & Adjustyour vehicles DATA &PERFORMANCE!

No programmer will give this kind of power alone.
The JLT adds a ton more are with it's huge filter and larger MAF housing. This is a double edged sword as the MAF in these new truck (just like the Mustang GT) do not tell the computer what to do when you put the sensor in a larger housing, but adds great power.

So we need to tell the computer what to do with fuel, timing, MAF transfere and so on. This combo of more air and a tune makes huge power. It's not "just" the intake or "just" the tuner, it's both working together.

No, the Edge will not work, unless you go to a dyno and have a custom tune installed into your Edge porgrammer.

As far as heat... We knew this was coming, so we tested this as well. With the SCT X-2 you can data log tons of engine peramaters, including intake temps. We tested in city traffic and highway spped with great results. One thing we seem to forget is how much air flow there is under the hood of a truck. Just look down, you can see the ground.

At 30-35MPH in traffic we logged IAT's only 12-22 degrees above ambiant air temps. At 55+ IAT's were only 6-12 degrees above ambiant air temp. Hammer the throttle and the can get right near ambiaint temp.
I've been using it for 6 months or so with no issue and great performance.

Also, we ran a 15.5 @ 88 with a 4x4 screw lariat with only this JLT/SCT combo and a MAC cat back.

Thanks

Jay

a similiar option currently available, you can get a Troyer custom tuned XCAL2 with the AF1 3.25" intake tube. This intake also requires fuel adjustments for the higher airflow.

Just let me know. I start my new job may 30th so we need to get this going sometime soon.

We gonna do UD pulleys and electric fans at the same time?

You going to want to go ahead and get the edge, or wait for the new sct that should be coming out?

They are bragging about the air temps being "only" 6 - 8 degrees above ambient. My shaker setup and my edge temp indicators showed a 1 deg difference at 60 mph. Now THAT is cold air induction! If i could get that elbow and filter into my shaker base.... HMMMM.....

If they had that setup with a svo style ram air, that would be cool!

Word on the street is that SCT will be making a simular setup as the edge. That will be completely custom tuneable.

The X-2 is only about 10 months old and it totally custom tunable. You can make adjustmenst for fuel, timing, gear and tire changes, shift points and firmness and a ton more.
Not to mention data logging, checking and clearing trouble codes and more.

I don't know of any "new" SCT tuners on the horison.
