SOMEONE IN THE FORUM STATED THAT HE REMOVED HIS SILENCER. I HAVE AN 04 4.6L IS THAT SOMETHING THAT I CAN DO? IS IT IN THE AIR BOX? THANKS FOR ANY INFO.

 

No, the silencer is actually the 6" piece that you will need to screw onto the end of your Beretta 9mm so that the parts dept. and sales staff wont hear you shoot the service dept.

 

Yes, in the curved section of the air inlet. Takes some work to get it out, but can be done. Took me about an hour. At least on my truck, added a little bit of low growl when I get on the gas hard...

 

Is That Only In The 5.4 Or Does The 4.6 Have It To?

 

4.6 has it. It took me 1/2 hour to get mine out, but well worth it.

 

I TOOK THE INLET PIPE OFF BETWEEN THE AIR BOX AND THROTTLE BODY AND I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING IN THERE. GUESS MINE DOES NOT HAVE ONE.

 

When you take the black inlet pipe out you will see a rubber piece that goes into the fender. Pull that out.

 

LMFAO, if you think that is the silencer then ......ummmm

The silencer is in the actual intake where the "ribbed" part is and ends where the intake clamps onto the throttle body. It is glued inside of it, so get a flat head screwdriver and pry that sucka out. I used some tin snips to make cuts all around it so I could fold 'em in and it slid right out. Maybe 10 minutes after you get the edges loose. You must unseat the silencer on both ends, the interior and exterior of the intake.

This isn't the actual "silencer". The actual silencer is the dead air outside of the "silencer" between the walls of the intake.

All reputation points will be greatly appreciated.

 

Your truck has one....it is glued to the inside of the intake.....pry the seams. Check the post above.

 

OK! CALL ME AN IDIOT BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND. I DON'T SEE ANY RIBBED PIECE IN THE PIPE AT THE THROTTLE BODY OR ANYWHERE ELSE. WHERE IS THE FREAKING SILENCER!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Do you have the 4.6 or 5.4?

5.4 does not have same intake as 4.6.

Do a search and you will find some photos.

Ok! Ok! I Found It! It Was Definitely A Biatch To Get Out. Didn't Really Notice Anything, But I Only Went Around The Block. Thanks To Everyone For Helping.
