Hurricane Engine "IS BACK!"

This was just posted in the G.D section a little bit ago by another member, but I'd thought I'd also transfer that link to this forum since it's talking about the new F150's and whats going to be in it for that guys that don't visit the G.D section to read this link.

The Hurricane engine is coming back in one way or another...

would it really be that much better out of the factory than what we can have now -a tuner, cai intake, and exhaust ???????? - I've done these mod's on 2 of these new F150's now and am now worried... I will probably have to do it again if this option happens !

Awesome news! Ford has been behind the power curve compared to the competition for years. It's about time they step it up.

Won't it be quite a while before we actually see this engine, with all the testing and whatnot that they do?

Depends on how far they got with it before it went on the shelf. Maybe its possible they have alot of that done? Who knows....

I do know they need it in 07 to throw some fire against the new silverado. Not changing something in the 150 is giong to hurt their sales once the silverado comes out. I just hope they dont bring it out too late and miss the market.

well its true ford will be producing the 6.2 litre engine, i just got back from my union meeting and we will begin building the cylinder heads for it in the beginning of 07. This probably means the engine will not be available until the 08 year. There was no specs on horsepower or torque just the fact it will be the new engine in the f150, you will still be able to get the 4.6 and the 5.4 however the 6.8 v-10 will be discontinued. Hopefully for ford this will not be too late.

Merkle said Ford’s Cleveland casting plant has received orders for a new 6.2-liter engine block, with work to begin next year.
I like hearing that, they already closed one plant here so its good to see that the locals might be safe for a while.

Im sure it will be a killer motor, but I got my heart on the line for the soon to come out 6.4L PowerStroke, which will be in my next truck, a F-350 crew cab
