Ceramic brake problem
Ceramic brake problem
I have gone to 2 diifernt auto parts stores. Lordco and Napa. I first purchased rear/front Raybestos ceramic pads for both front and rear. I then took them to my ford dealership to have them installed. After they pulled the old brakes off, they told me I had the wrong ones. I had checked Raybestos website the night before and I had the right part #'s. I did have the right ones. But I saw the old rear ones and the clips (a 3 point clip for the rear brakes) and they were different from the ceramic ones (had a small 3 point clip). I then went to a second parts store and looked at the ones they had, and it was the same thing. Differnt clip.
Has anyone had this problem or have any suggetions.

Hah, I have these installed right now, Raybestos. They are on the rear, I am having extreme squealing but I can't tell if it's the front or rear, haven't taken the time to check. Brake dust is hard to tell on the rears too. I had the exact same problem as you, you need to check your Vin#, there are different parts for your Vin#, go to your local Checkers/Kragen's/Autozone and have them input your truck into the system and ask them to find out if it needs Vin verification, it does. It has to do with the 11th vin #. I had the exact problem and had to take them back and get the correct ones. It is the small 3 or 4 prong clips that pop into the calipers that don't fit. Hope I've helped.

Store went by the vin # orginally. Still recieved the pads with the 3 prongs that were about 3/4" in diameter. The ordignal ford pads are about 1.5 - 2" in diameter. Do you haoppen to have the actual part # for the ones you got?
I went to a couple of stores and all the ones that they said were the right ones for my truck were the small prong ones.
Thanks agian
