Any Differences???
so i was just curious....are there any changes in the f-150 from the 2004-2005-2006.....only one i can think of is from the 04-05 to the 06 is the front bumper and mabye different wheels that come on the trucks.....
'04s had glossy B-pillar trim, '05+ is matte black. The tan interior on '05+ Lariats is a little darker than the '04s. A few things that were standard on '04 model year trucks became options on 2005s (overhead rail system, Homelink, etc.) Arizona beige as a single tone color went away for '06, replaced by Smokestone. I think '04 was the only year you could get a yeller FX4. Some 2005 5.4 3V valvetrain parts won't interchange with 2004 engines. That's the biggest things I can think of off the top of my head.
The FX4 luxury package, XLT chrome pack, Lariat chrome pack are only on 06 models. 150" WB screw w/ 6.5 bed is also 06 only. The 17" FX4 wheels were standard in 04-5, the 18's were optional, the 06's get the 18" wheels standard and get the 20's as an option. The 17" FX4 wheels are no longer available
04 was the only year that the XL came standard with the chrome grill surround and the top of the front bumper painted to match the vehicle. The top of the front bumper is matte black now and the matte black grilll surround is standard. Glad I bought my XL in 04 before the change.
Correct me if i am wrong but on the XLT Model the '04 came standard with under the hood insulation, and the rail storage box on the headliner as well. I also read somewhere that the initial 2004's have insulation around the transmission area, and was discontinued as a cost savings measure. (not sure about that one though.
(mine was built 7/03 and has both)
