Question Where to Buy 4.10 gears?

Hey Everyone,

For those of you that have changed out your factory gears for a bigger set. I was wondering where you ordered your gears from? I have an 05 Screw 4x4 with the factory 3.73 ls and I want to hop up to 4.10's... any ideas?

Are you getting bigger tires or do you just want more umph?

I am no expert in the matter but from what I have read (and it makes sense):

4.10 gears with stock tires = more umph

4.10 gears with 33's (or any larger tire) = gears make up for the bigger tires therefore the umph is neutralized

4.56 gears with larger tires = more umph

So if you are getting larger tires and you still want that extra kick in the pants go with 4.56. You won't get wonderful gas mileage but then again guys who mod their truck only consider good gas mileage a bonus anyways.

I just had the gears swapped in my Screw. I went from stock 3.55 to 4:10 gears. The shop that did the swap bought them direct from Ford. Here is a link to the parts http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=3631

How much did you pay, do you have larger tires, and how is the power difference?

Thanks ninemmbill, strange they don't list a part # for the front axle... well its a start.

I hear 4.10 are good for some more low end power. How has it affected you at the top end? Have you had it over 90 with those gears in?

They do carry both. The rear diff uses a 9.75" and the front diff (if you have a 4x4) is 8.8".

The gear swap cost $1050 for parts and labor. I am switching to BFG's 285/70/17 , about a 33" so the gearing should help compensate for any felt power loss.

Right now the truck definitely feels peppier, although I am still haven't pushed it because of the break in period. I used the Edge programmer to make the necessary adjustments for tach rpm readouts and shift points. A few more miles and I should be able to give you a better report on performance differences.

i know this has probably been asked, but what is the top speed you can go with the 4.56's? I've had mine to 120 it and just seems buried. I couldnt get anything else above that unless i got a charger. What is the top speed on a 4.56 before you top out? This being around the same mods i have(all bolt on).
