Question on grille from factory

What determines whether the border of the grille is chrome or the painted color of your truck? Or are chrome ones only aftermarket?

I'm pretty sure if you buy a truck with the chrome package you get the grille with the chrome surround and a color match grille otherwise. At least my new 06 SCREW came with the chrome package and my grille is chromed.

XL = Matte color
STX/XLT/FX4 = Painted
Lariat = Chrome

2004 XL = Chrome

Chrome packages = Chrome

My 06 Lariat screw came with the chrome surround, but I also have the mono color truck, but no chrome package.

No, and there is no such thing as a "work truck package". I wasn't aware that the 2004 had a chrome surround, but I guess it did, only chrome you can get one a new XL is the front and rear bumpers.

So what are the trucks sold as 'work truck package' with 5.4 engine, 4.10 gears and seven lug rims all the way around?
I've driven one, nice power, real rugged. Eight foot bed. White.
Dealer called it the 'work truck option'.
If they are not work trucks, why do the dealers call them that?
Chris

I would consider an XL a work truck, because that is pretty much what it is, but there isn't a package that makes it (or is called) a work truck.
On a seperate not did anyone know that a loaded XL's MSRP is $32,925.

Could that have been added to any truck with a 5.4?

How much does it add to the cost?

I don' t believe so, I think it is an XL or XLT only option (I could be wrong here), and you also have to have a 8 ft bed, and it is a $1200 option.

I'll have to check my sticker but I have the work truck, 4.6 xl 2005, no power locks or windows but with cruise. The way trucks should be made, no thrills
