Like I said an XL is a work truck (that is what I have), but there isn't a work truck package for the F150 as far as I can tell.

Ok I just checked fords site and the only thing I found on work trucks is listed here, something about the bench seat in the interior section. Now I'm confused because I know I asked for the work truck. On a side note does everyone have the small cooler and a larger cooler. I haven't traced them to see what they are yet

The XL would be the work truck (as far as most people are concerned), some dealers may call the heavy payload package the "work package", I don't know, dealers like to make things up as they go along anyway. I'm just going by my own experiences, and what the Ford website says, if there is an actual package called the work truck package, feel free to point it out.

There is a work truck set of options for the XL, including the 5.4, heavy rear, 7 lugs, etc. etc.
You are saying that because they don't have a 'work truck option' box, then there is no such thing. Semantics.
The XL is a base model, and can be called a work truck, or a base truck, or a plain Jane truck. There is no 'base' model, no 'plain Jane' option box.
But calling it that is not wrong, it is accurate and it is how owners, salesmen, insurance adjusters, etc. refer to it and think of it.
The package that includes the 7 lug 4.10 truck is going to be referred to as a 'work truck' package.
It is going to be sold as a work truck package.
Arguing about whether or not that is the exactly correct nomenclature is sorta pointless.
