Help Volant install ?

I just installed my Volant and im having a problems with the install. Anyone here had a problem with the clamps and rubber tube that go from the throttle body to the plastic Volant air intake tube? I have tryed many different postions on lineing the boot to the TB and air intake, but I can make the clamps make a good grip they just are not gripping, I was able to pull the boot of with my hand.
The one time I had thought it had gripped well, I took it for a spin. It seemed like my truck had bogged for a split second when I punched it from a dead start. The truck also seemed to have lost some power Also I have to say that it sounded like crap. I get back home and guess what, the boot was loose from the TB..
Any ideas help?
THANKS

I just installed my Volant tonight too, had a slight issue with that but made an adjustment. The instructions said to install the tube to the box first, but my throttle body was loose too when I did it that way, so I did the throttle body first. Make sure the majority of the rubber tube is for the throttle body, only an inch or so needs to be on the hard plastic piece, that was my problem the first time. Keep plugging away at it, its bound to fit right.

The boot on the TB gave me my biggest hurdle. Like stated before, put the boot on the tube first leaving most of the rubber for the TB. Then push it down on the TB as much as possible. This also helps line the tube up to the box better. Don't tighten all the way on TB just yet, just snug enough to hold it in place and so you are able to twist it. Then twist the tube and rubber tube (on the TB) clock wise about an inch or so. This also helps line the tube up with the box better. It sounds weird, but it works.

This worked on both of my installs. I had the 1st generation and now I'm on my 2nd generation Volant.

I got mine yesterday from JusnesModified and didn't get it installed yet:o , but i will try to do it in the Morning. Thanks for all the Tips, it will help out alot. Has anyone ever Tried to make up their own ram air tube that would pull forced air from the lower bumper area? It doesn't look like it would be to hard to make a similar pipe out of black pvc.... Ohh no, a DVW pipe again...HEhehee.... Any thoughts anyone???

Installed mine on Tuesday night, and have driven it too and from work the past 2 days. The install went ok, glad I downloaded the detailed directions from their website.

So far I can't tell if I am getting better performance. I already have a Magnaflow SIDO and am Edge tuned on Level 3. I'll try to do a 0-60 run for a comparison soon. I do notice it is quite louder at WOT, a deep VRRRRRMMMM sound. I capped off the bottom hole where the snorkle attachment goes, not sure what effect that has on sound, supposedly makes it quieter.

Just my $.02 so far

mine went in without any problems. my thoughts on makeing a ram air tube is using that flexible drier hose. It will be cheep and hopefully work out well. I will be doing this as soon aws it gets warm outside

my install on my 4.6 fit pretty good, but they forgot to include the gasket to the mass air meter/box. All was ok though, i just went to a parts house and bought some gasket material and made one myself. it surely gives the truck a more v8 sound @ full throttle.

Nick G, looks like you go to my ole alma mater. Graduated in 2000 in Construction Management. Go Tigers!!!!

I finally got the boot on tight. The way I was able to do it was by attaching the boot to the TB first and clamping it down then attaching the intake tube to the boot, kinda was a pain but it worked. The other method of clamping the boot to the air intake tube first just did not work for me. It is louder thats for sure, and im hearing a slight rattle at first when at mid- wot, but im not sure if thats just the way it sounds?? I have not really had a good chance to evaluate it, but it seems to me that I may have lost power from a dead start but mid range power seem to have improved.
I have the 5.4 with my Edge set at level 3 and a Magnaflow cat back.
Im going to work with it a bit more and try capping off the bottom hole see what that does.

Tuff

That doesn't sound good! Loss of power

Hopefully putting a cap will help.
