The titan has a whopping 12 cubic inches more than the 5.4; hold on to your hats!

Agreed jpdadeo, I'm not arguing how small a diffrence it is, I'm arguing that there is a diffrence. Thank you for unknowingly stating that. Just a little tweak of a computer to calibrate and get more out of a motor, also isn't something we should hold onto our hats either. But apparently it works. Your truck seems to be pretty quick, noticed your earlier post, congrats.

The biggest disadvantage the 04 and up F150’s have is weight because the hp to weight ratio is pretty much the bottom line but Troyer’s custom tuning is the equalizer though

Definately agree with that, never really researched while buying the truck about the horsepower to wieght ratio, but after cruising through this forum it seems to be quite the topic of convo.

Ok...I follow your logic but don't see your point. Your apples to apples thing really doesn't work. When you talk of comparisons between makes the fair comparison (basicaly what is known as apples to apples comparison by most of the free world) is 2 fairly equally optioned, configured and powered modles. I think your wanting to compare Washington Apples to Washington Apples. For years Mustangs and Camaros were compared and figured to be on a level playing field with each other even though there was a much larger difference in engine size and even weight than there is with the Titan and F150.

Thats not my view on apples to apples, but I respect your opinion on the topic. But the facts remain, the Titan does have a larger power plant and a weight advantage, thats awesome more power to them. And thats why I dont believe its apples to apples. The camaro vs mustang in my opnion was hype not comparison. FORD vs. CHEVY thing. They always want to better their competitor thats why in certain races out of the factory the cobra mustang (will say a 96') will win the street race but the camaro (96) wins at the track, its all about racing your race. I don't have any facts at the moment to back it up but I can imagine the Titan's is a little bit weaker top end but that doesnt make it any less of truck, thats just the way it was designed. I understand what your saying we just have diffrent views on the topic of apples to apples, no biggy. I just laid out the facts which make the diffrence in the trucks, depends on what the paramaters of the race are to determine the winner, i guess.

I might need to start a new thread, but I have a buddy who had the frontier model. 2005 4.0 v6 who contends that he could compete with the 5.4 f150's? Anybody know? Will say from a dead stop or 40-50 roll> any thoughts?

I beleive the Frontier has ~270 HP and weighs ~1500 lbs less than the F-150 so I'd say yes, he will beat a stock F-150. Now, load each truck to it's GVW and you'd clean his clock. The frontier is a very nice "mid-size" truck.....but it's still a Nissan.....

Forget all the HP and wieght stuff. The big difference is in the gearing. Even with a 4.56 rear, we'd be lagging in the gearing department.

Here you go.

F150:
1st gear (2.84) x rear axle (3.73) = 10.59
1st gear (2.84) x rear axle (4.56) = 12.95

Nissan Titan:
1st gear (3.827) x rear axle (3.357) = 12.85
