Another exhaust question...

I'd like to add a Magnaflow tip to my factory exhaust once my 12226 comes in (Feb 17th). Can someone please tell me the diameter of the factory exhuast pipe on the F-150? I am looking to order something from Summit or maybe eBay right away. Thanks...

I know 2.5" is what comes out from the cats, pretty sure they Y into a 3"...

What sorta in/out did you get on the muffler? Thats probally what the tail pipe is.

I got a Magnaflow 12226, which is a 5x8 with a 14" body and a 20" length overall. It has a center/offset inlet/outlet both of which are 2.5" because another member here on this board told me that's the one he got and it was just right. I hope it fits. I ordered a tip via eBay which I hope fits too, because it's got 2.5" inlet and a 4" outlet and is 5" long overall.

EDIT: That tip is gonna look like crap huh?

Wait it is 2.5", I had to put that reducer on my exhaust I had on my truck before.

OK, well I found a tip on eBay that I bought, not the same one as before. I hope it will work ok. It's a 2.5" (I.D.) inlet, 3" outlet 12" total length Magnaflow PN#35204. I did not want to get a short little stubby tip that would look weird when you see the truck from behind, and had I bought an 18" tip, it would have stuck out past the truck about 3 inches or so, which looks gay, IMO. Anyway, I got all this from Performance Peddler, they've always been good to me.

Thats why I dont do tips, they are hard to keep clean, rarely look right IMO, and just a pin in general.

Dump after the axle leaves a good clean look.

I see what you're saying, but since the truck is leased anyway, I just want a lil something to make it look nice that doesn't cost a lot of money, so that when I turn it in I don't have to go through the hassle of taking anything off or losing any large amounts of money. Believe me, had I bought the truck, I'd have a hell of a lot more done to it by now. That's for damn sure!

Got a pic of this installed on your truck by chance?

I don't, but I could probably take a picture if I was ever outside when it's light (I work a lot). I'll keep your request in mind the next time I have the camera up and going. Trust me, it looks sweet. The only thing is, I had to have the muffler shop stretch it to fit. Out of the box, it didn't fit.

Thanks, I would really love to see it. I was worried that it would stick out too far compared to the stock pipe.

Stretch it to fit? You mean the 2.5" opening on the tip didn't fit over the stock pipe?

Also, your sig says 35204 "slash cut tip"...according to the maggie website, that is the rolled tip, is yours just cut on the end?

Thanks for the feedback.

It's got a rolled edge with a 15 degree slash cut. And it did not fit over the OEM pipe, so they had to stretch it to fit. I think the ID of the OEM pipe is 2.5", not the OD. I'll post a pic soon.
