You might want to look at some of the CodeAlarm units, or the PowerCode stuff.
Don't know why nothinbutaford said that about the unit you linked to. Maybe he will enlighten us? Might be an interesting story.

I work for one of the largest expeditors in new england and have been in this game since 1988 and have seen my share of starts. Auto command is poorly constructed, the remotes fail constantly etc etc. Code does make a good product, I prefer the powercode style over the audiovox style, like the ford gold-silver or ca630-ca530. Also Astrostart makes a high quality product with incredible range. DEI also makes good products as well. Find a reputible dealer and see what they carry. Our company has over 35 installers on the road each day and we need to install quality pieces or the repairs would criple us.

I would like to vote for the Astro Start. I have had this in for a year now and it has been flawless, but the guy who put it in is really top notch. He does really neat work, literally. This thing does have incredible range. I think with a clear line of sight, I started my truck from about 1000 feet away. The installer and the range were the selling parts for me, plus I only have one remote to do everything. The other thing I like about this is that my old lady has the same remote start and I can start her truck, unlock the dorrs and lock the doors with my remote and vice versa. The remotes seem durable too. It was just over $400 with the bypass kit. One more thing....the old or factory remotes still work with the truck too. Good luck.

Save yourself the grief, and just get a Code Alarm ( the OEM'er for the Ford Branded Remote starters ).
Travis at KCAutoSound.com has an option to get them prewired for your specific year.
This makes it a straight up easy install, so you don't have to mess around.
I have the Ford Silver ( Ford Brand, and level, don't know the Code Alarm P/N equivelant ) and it works flawless. No problems with no starts, etc. Some aftermarket ones I have read ( in threads here ) either work great, or work hit or miss.

Bit more costly to get the Code Alarm one, but inmy mind worth it in the long run. Also the factory RKE fobs still work with the Ford Branded system ( and I think the Code Alarm ) system. Don't know if this is the same with others ??? Something you would have to check.

I don't know anything about remote starts, maybe someone could say if the one I have is good or not.

I have a AutoPage RS-615, that has worked flawlessly and has a GREAT range. It's really nice to be able to lock the doors further than 10' from the vehicle. I replaced my factoyr remote with the Autopage one and it looks factory and isn't cheesy in any way.

I've got an Audiovox Pro 9800, it has its quirks, but it works pretty good about 90% of the time.

here's a quick run down of some of the most popular

Ford powercode same platform/manufacturer as codealarm on powercode platform
ford gold sim to code ca630 remst/keyls/pnic/alarm/500'
ford silver sim to code ca530 remst/keyls/pnic/500'
ford bronze remst/keyless/panic/500'

codealarm on audiovox platform
ca670 2way lcd rem remst/keyls/panic/alarm/1000'
ca610 sim to ford gold
ca510 sim to silver
ca420 remstart only very small remote 500'

viper clifford automate all same platform all made by DEI
typical range 800'
offer same type packages as code as well as 2way lcd remote system

astrostart canadian made don't have the same fcc restrictions as others = range range and more range
my girlfriends 3 year old 4106 2way system has easily 2000' of range. lower end models still have min of 1200'
easily twice the range of most other brands.

stay away from autocommand & bulldog products!!!

My girlfriend, sister, mother, and snowmobile engine builders wife all have astrostarts I installed. Reliability look at this list, which one would you want to **** off. If I ever get time I will have the ca670 on my toolbox installed in my f150.
if I haven't mentioned your brand I don't know enough about it to comment.
