Today was her birthday

Back on 12/9/97 I purchased my first truck. I was a senor in high school and she was a worn down ole 87 with 239,000 miles. I picked her up late that night and by the next night her tired 351W was sitting on an engine stand. My parents allowed me to get a credit card and purchase some goodies for the rebuild. I remember how excited I was when I the cam, heads, intake & carb showed up about a week later.

On Christmas I got a pair of shorty headers and by 12/26 I was ready to crank her up. I'll never forget the first time I cranked her up and she came sputtering to life. The carb was in dire need of tweaking but the little beast was alive.

Around the first week of February I was able to scrap up enough money for the 39.5X15X15 Super Swampers and those sweet looking wheels. She already had a 3' body and 6' suspension on her but the guy was running some crappy little 31' tires.

Months went by driving around with the factory 3.08!!!! gears until one lucky day a guy comes in after ordering some FRP 4.56 gears and decides he didn't want them. I was able to talk the guy into 4.10 gears for his stang and I made him a deal that I would pay for the 4.10's if he gave me the 4.56 gears.

Anyway enough with the old story about my first pickup. Here she is in all her glory.

Yup my license plate says NOT HIGH

Good looking truck.
Very similaiar to my first F-150. A 1987 4x4 with a 302, 4spd. What a gas hog, but gas was like $.97/g back then. Dual 20 gallon tanks and dual whip cb antennas.. Even had a lund moonvisor too. ahh, the memories!!

NICE RIG!!!

And now that we are talking about old times, I still miss my '79 Bronco with the 400M. Man that thing was a beast. I sold it like two years ago. Why? I have no idea...

I understand, my first truck was a 93 F150 351W Lightning. I love the looks of those trucks and the engine was damn reliable. I wanted to improve my 10mpg gas mileage so I bought a new truck, but the 05 doesnt do much better lol and atleast the Lightning was quick.

Very nice truck. My first truck was a 1954 F100 that someone had put a 289 and C4 in. It came out of a field. I went to work on it and ended up with a show truck, got tired of the car shows, then started drag racing. I put in a 351 Clev with Nitrous and a built C4, 4.88 gears. My best time was a 12.89. It is in storage now, maybe someday I will get it out and play with it some more. I had a blast with that truck. Loved to run the big block Chevys and look ar their faces when they found out it was a 351 Clev(small block Ford). Those 1969 engines had heads just like the Boss 302 engines. Drank gas but would really go.
