Yep, my '98 Lariat had it stitched on each of the Captain's Chairs, as well as the stripes on either side of the truck and the carpeted floor mats. Now it's only on either side of the truck and in the instrument cluster. It would be cool to have it on the Captain's Chairs again, but alas...
Ever wonder why Ford only puts the generic silver F-150 logo on the tailgate, instead of the same ones that are on either side of the truck that say F-150, Lariat and Triton V8? The people in traffic behind me read more on my truck than anything else, so it'd be nice for us consumers who spent the megabucks on a Lariat to be able to show it off to those behind us, ya know?!
Seriously though, the only real complaint I have had about my new '04 F-150 is the lack of armrests and no factory NAV option. For '06 you can get bigger tires, more chrome, yada yada, but still no NAV option. Not even for the rail system (have they made ANYthing for it yet since the 3 boring bins and the DVD since it was first launched? ANYthing at all?)... What happened? Where did Rambunctious go? It's seems the rail has been forgotten, and there were so many good ideas floating around for it back in the day...
I love my truck... but come on Ford, every car commercial nowadays touts things like NAV systems and LED lighting inside and out. Great start with the bigger tires and 6.5 bed for SuperCrews. You have been listening to what the consumer wants. Throw a NAV system in the mix and hopefully all the little squeeks and rattles are fixed, and you're golden. I'm not asking for better mileage, just for reasonable things. I'm tired of the squeek from the rear window when it's open, from the rear passenger door something rattling in there unless you keep pressure on the armrest and now from somewhere near the windshield/hood area making some kinda squeeky noise when driving over 30 or so mph. And how come the engine sounds like a jet engine? My friends truck doesn't sound like that. Is it the 5.4 vs the 4.6? Hard to believe.
Hmmm... guess I had more complaints than I thought. The reason I'm aggravated is because my 1998 F-150 Lariat 4x4 SuperCab fully loaded was perfect. I mean, not one problem ever. The thing was a piece of beauty. I NEVER had any issues with it at all. How come my 2004 F-150 Lariat 4x4 SuperCrew fully loaded, 7 years newer, is givng me squeekies when it's supposed to be the quietest truck out there? I paid mine off last week, so I'd trade mine in for an '06 if they had something really new to offer, but...
And yes, I brought it in once for the squeek, came away just the same as I brought it in. Squeek was gone for one day, they replaced upper rear window seal or something. Now I've got the 2 more added to it, plus the engine noise that always seemed to have a too-loud whine, like as long as I press on the gas it sounds like it's whining like a jet engine or something.
I dunno. Sorry about the rant. It's been several months since I've been back to this site and I just needed to vent all the little things bugging me about this truck to others who would understand how the little things can add up when you want your vehicle to be perfect and truly enjoy every minute of it.
