Now I got problems...
Now I got problems...
I'm so used to reading about other folks problems. Don't get me wrong, my truck's been pretty much trouble free except for some little trim bits. But the other day, I looked over my warranty history:
- Two fuel filler door hinges.
- Replaced the center brake light once, resealed it with RTV after it leaked again.
- Resurfaced the front rotors once for a brake pulsation...replaced them later for a pulsation...resurfaced the rears for a pulsation...and now it's back again.
- Swept and recharged the A/C, it was about a half a pound low.
- Replaced the serpentine belt 'cause it was chirping on cold start up...guess what? It's doing it again.
- Squeaks and rattles...I've probably got about a pound of foam tape shoved in the dash in different spots for rattles. My rear view mirror rattles like hell too. Got about a gallon of lithium grease applied to the tailgate in different spots so it'd quit squeaking.
- My driver's window regulator broke last week.
- The EATC is on the fritz...I ordered a control head for it today, but driving to work in 24 degree temps with no heat isn't fun. Pull the fuse, reset it and it'd work okay for about ten minutes and croak out again.
Repetative sp? problems are the worst. Thats why i just upgrade stuff like the belt. Mine sqealed on cold start so i bought a gatorback. Problem fixed. Brakes pulsed new aftermarket rotors and pads. No pulsing! I know that's not the point but it seems like the only way to fix some of these problems.
You know, I don't think I'd really feel bad if something major happened, like the motor blowed up or I lost the transmission. It's the little things that really grate my nerves.
Welcome to the club. I can actually handle most of the small things, its the going back in for the same thing more than once is what drives me up the wall.
You are luckier than most of us here, as you usually know what your problems are!
As well you work at the dealership, so you dont have to make special trips there all the time.

So far I have been lucky. The only repetitive problems I have had are the brake rotors. Not warped, but wearing faster than the pads. Dealer has replaced the fronts once and the rears twice under warranty. Pads all around once.
Had the shudder on the limited slip. Dealer replaced the lube with the new recommended (75w140), with the friction modifier, and so far no more shudder.
Only small nits I had was water in one tail light and the grease stain on the side windows from the tape on the power window cable. They fixed those under warranty too.
No leaky third brake light, no rattle at the power rear window, no rattles in the dash, no broken gas door, and in general, no annoying squeaks anywhere (knock on wood).

And there's an upgraded fan clutch for the rolling noise at cold start up, but I thought you had yours replaced before?

I really don't know if I even will try to fix it, heh. Maybe next month when things really start slowing up at work.
