why on earth do I have a wire harness on my coin holder?!
this wire plug is for the dealership technitian to use a jumper pin to alternate between engine knock-or-vibration mode. when you drop it off for one it "fixes" one and activates the other ! its all a part of ford investing its capital in the alcoholic beverage industry.

Here's what I did with my coin holder:

This solves my problem of there not being a satellite radio mount available for my particular tuner. I just made my own, and when the truck is ready to be turned back in, I buy another coin holder for a few bucks, and all is well. End of story....

Since the F-150 has so many options available the wire harnesses will sometimes have connectors to options that you vehicle does not have.
If you have a 4x2 AND have the 4x4 switch connector you cannot buy a 4x4 switch and make anything work.
However:
Two of the circuits are for rear illumination (take a typical ohm meter and find the 12V delta between two circuits). You could tap into these two circuts and use it for a low power application (like a LED or something). As long as it's below 1 amp you should be good.

I kept my coin holder and dont have to buy a new one if i get rid of it
If you put in the switch from the 4x4, you could easily hook it up for some custom application. Lights, DVD, express window drop or raise, etc. It would be a useful switch that blended in with the truck.
I mounted my cell phone there, but I considered a second power tap.

Where does the other end terminate?
The coin holder is really a hole filler on the 4X2's. On the 4X4's the 4-wheel switch goes in that hole. During assembly of the 4X2's the wire harness is put in anyway. This is the wire that is attached to the back of the coin holder. If you want to remove the coin holder for any reason just detach the wire and wrap some friction tape around it and stuff it up in the wiring somewhere.
I was curious where the other end terminates. Maybe it's buried in the wiring harness and inaccessible?
If it came out in some convenient area, I could possibly put an accessory on the other end.
