Intresting thought about mirrors...

Ive been thinking, is there anyway to install some sort of exterior lights on the side view mirrors, like on the F250s. I just thought they would look kinda cool at night

I concur!!!

Figure out a way to remove the mirrors without breaking them or openning up the case...

I think the Dremel is coming out to play in the future...

Can the blinker portion run off of the current blinker in the mirror?

And can the constant be run off of the power mirror wiring?

Anyone got any pics of the lights on the F-250 you're talking about? Sounds interesting.

I thing I miss is "Puddle Lights". My explorer has them, little lights that come on when the interior lights come on when unlocking/locking the doors. They came from the factory that way, a little light on the bottom of each outside mirror, built into the bottom of the housing so you could even tell they were there unless you were looking for them. They really did light up the area at night.

I've been thinking of that too!! We have those lights on our Excursion. I love em. They act as turn signals and light up with the other lights when the parking lights are turned on. I guess Ford has nothing we can adapt?

im not sure, i dont think ford has anything, we might be able to buy the parts from the F250, modify it a little, and then get the drimel out and drill away, tap into the parkin lamp wires so they come on with the headlights, put some sealent around the hole and glue that sucker in there real good...any other ideas as of how we could go about doing this modd, i think it would make the truck look alot BIGGER as well as look sweet.

As for the puddle light goes, we do have pre existing area for that. If you look underneath the housing unit, you can go buy puddle light housing off of King Ranch edition mirror, not sure if they sell those seperate. I know King Ranch mirror comes with puddle light. As for the foward facing turn signal, I modded few pieces (like the ones on VW touerag), I'll let you guys know when (or IF) I finish it.

The expedition and navigator mirrors have the puddle lights, couldn't you just work with those parts?

Just a thought.

I think this may be what you are looking for,
https://www.f150online.com/galleries...5001&anum=7903

I would have used more LED's and placed them a little different but you get the idea.

Also how cool would it be if the signal mirrors when sequential from the inside out when you were turning, trying to figure that out, right now.

Expy or Navi will not work...I've tried. Now for that mirror with led on it...it's not my taste, it looks way too home made.

supposedly there is an option on 06 F150s for a new style of mirror with a large light on the outside vertical edge.

For like 275.00 for the pair you can get the KR ones that will have the turn light, puddle lamp and will power fold if you wire it up, real simple now that it has been done.

without the use of the stock switch https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=189611

done with the stock switch https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...1&page=6&pp=30
