The only problem is the superduty mirrors have that light built in i believe. And i dont think that shape would fit the f-150 mirror even if you modified it. Ive been trying to find a light that would fit but i havnt came up with anything that would look good.

That mirror did not come standard on my '06 Lariat. It looks like an optional tow mirror - definitely need to track this one down for my truck.

The site lists it as "part of the Deluxe Mirror Package".

The Fleet page shows it as "Deluxe Mirror Package (61A)".

Edmunds show it as a $165 option (retail) .

Those are the same as the Schafenhacker (sp?) tow mirrors. I have them on the truck, but don't have the amber light wired up yet. It comes on as a blinker, but they send along a wire that you need to splice into the wiring harness so that it come on with the headlights. I just haven't had the time to run and splice the wires yet.

I'd give you a part number, but I'm too lazy to run out to the garage...

FWIW: Here's the link to Schefenhacker's site Telescoping tow mirrros item #2120 @ $550 retail After digging around, it looks very similar but I can't say that they are 100% identical just yet. I didn't see a need for tow mirrors on my Expy so maybe I won't need them on the F-150 either. We're picking up a new horse trailer on Saturday, so that will be a good trial to see if we'll need telescoping mirrors.

Dave

PS: Here's a picture from their site looking from the front (not the best picture):

I think you are going to want the mirrors. I towed my in-law's Airstream to see if I wanted them and decided to splurge. They take a little getting used to, but they are really nice.

Guess I'll have to get an Airstream for the wife now...

P.S. They are the same as the Schafenhacker's that you can buy elsewhere. Schafenhacker makes the mirrors for the F250's as well. I remember reading a press release somewhere that Ford was offering these as OEM so I checked with the local dealer to make sure.

Well, that makes me question the Edmunds pricing info ($165 retail), but there is a 2006 MY pdf out on google that shows this price structure as well, along with the description.

No question about it, though, the look exactly like those Schefenhackers.

Guess I need to search the forums for some F150s with these already in place. Anybody got 'em?

About those "MY 2006" mirrors... I noticed that picture as soon as Ford updated their site for the 2006 MY Info. I ordered the Deluxe Mirror Package with my 2006, but I'm wondering if they will have those or not. Those are cool looking mirrors. The only reason I question it is because I saw a 2006 Lariat on the lot with the normal LED bar mirrors. I have seen a couple of Lariats since then and they had the old style mirros as well.

This could be some kind of towing mirror like mentioned in this thread, but if it is, there is no mention of it being a "special" package, or even as a late availability option. Ford's site clearly shows it as part of the "Deluxe Mirror Package" which makes the whole thing very strange and inconsistent.

Let me know if anyone figures out what the deal is (I'll keep watching this thread).

Thanks!
