Flow through console and shifter conversion.

Hello to everyone out there. This is my first post to this site. Three months ago I sold my six year old 2000 Ranger with only 29,000 miles on it to my brother in-law and bought a new 2005 F-150 FX4 Regular Cab. I was looking for a better ride and more payload and towing capacity. So far I haven’t been disappointed, this 150 is one great truck. I got the regular cab so it would fit into my garage, but wanted bucket seats and a console. Ford won’t sell um that way so I started working out just how to get that console I wanted into this truck. After doing some research it looked like it shouldn’t be very hard to not only install the console but also convert from column shift to floor shift. Of course I didn’t just stop with the console but added some other goodies along the way. Check out my gallery and let me know what you think. I’ve been reading this form for a couple of months now and really value you guy’s opinions.

Sorry, I forgot to check the show your signature box. It should be good to go now. I’ll try to get some details of the conversion in my gallery this week.

I just checked your gallery out, that console coversion is awesome. Could you give me a idea what the cost would be to do that? How hard is it to switch the shifter down there? I will be on the lookout for those details.
BTW your trucks looking sharp

How did you connect the console to the dash? Hard to tell in the pics but looks like a good job. Did you make the part yourself? I am sure several in this forum would like to know as well.

I had to buy two flow-through consoles on eBay to complete the conversion, one with shifter and one without. The second console was used to make the connection from the first console to the dash. I also had to buy a new shifter cable (the column shifter cable won’t work with the floor shifter). When it’s all said and done the conversion from column to floor shift is not very difficult. It’s more difficult on the regular cab truck because you will need to drill a 1.75” hole in the floor to run the shifter cable. I suspect the hole is already there in the SCAB and SCREW because they have an option for the floor shifter. Of course I don’t now that for sure. I also had to make a bracket to mount the front of the console w/ shifter because again the regular cab has no provisions for mounting a flow-through console. The SCAB and SCREW probably have these mounting holes already in place. You don’t have to make this bracket if you don’t mind drilling two more holes in your floor. I didn’t want to do any more drilling then I had to. The rear mounting uses the same holes as the center seat. But like I said, I’ll get the details into my gallery this week. I’ve got to get some sleep now.

Looks GREAT! I am working on this conversion myself. Definitely post some details about the shifter hookup. Are you getting nighttime lights on the shifter?

so, from what i can see and what the description says. is that the area from under the padded armrest that you used for the part between the console and dash? really great job - i should be getting mine this week and getting started. i am assuming the shifter and steering column are new from dealer?

geez, I'd just have given it up and bought a different style truck to begin with, but I guess if you're wanting it to fit in the garage that bad, then whatever makes you happy. You're better at it that I would be.

Very nice work! Impressive. If I didn't know better I would have thought it rolled out of the factory that way (NAV excluded of course ). You should be very proud!
