Question Brush/Grille Guards?

Ok, so basic question. I'm looking for a decent looking brush/grille guard for my truck but I don't know which one (if any) I like. I'm looking for input from anyone that has one. Do you like its looks, mounting method, protection, etc....

I dont recall seeing any 04+ trucks on here with grille gaurds. Maybe I've just missed them but anyway I'll let you know something in 7-10 business days when the UPS guy gets here. I'm getting a black powdercoat wraparound from JC Whitney. Gettin the tail gaurds too.

Polar Bear brand, mounts to the frame and bumper bolts, no drilling.

Two words: Ranch Hand

The ranch hand will deflect those silly white-tails.

Yes, Ranchhand is very good. I just didn't care for the 'honeycomb' or whatever in the middle section of it. So, I went with Manik.

Here are the questions you need to ask yourself before making any decisions:

1) do you need to keep your tow hooks? If so, then only a few mfg's make a guard which will allow this. You'll then need to search this forum for "hooks AND guard" ... or something similar. I've posted on this topic a few times.

2) black or chrome?

3) well, let's see what happens with questions 1 & 2 first.

I have really been thinking about getting a front bumper replacement from Ranch Hand and having that honeycomb crap in the middle torched out. I hate that too. I would have to have it painted to match my lower grey.
I really dig your Ford emblems and that kick a$$ billet badge you're workin!

Ok, so went and made my rounds throughout the DFW area today looking at guards. To answer question #1 Gordo, I do want to retain my tow hooks. So I'm assuming that narrows down my options significantly. As for #2, I'm not entirely sure. All I know is that I want the guard, and whatever steps I eventually buy to match. So this kinda sets the tone for later upgrades.

for tow hooks yes, many guards will remove them...i believe westin's do, but am not positive. i bought my WAAG because you retain the original Ford hooks-
good luck on your search!

Best I could find. I know I posted on a particular thread where several of the top guards were listed as far as which ones kept/lost your tow hooks, but I couldn't find it.

So Texas Wolf, I'm assuming you've been pleased with your Ranch Hand thus far? I've looked into all of the ones out there and while I'm not crazy about the honeycomb center, I'm liking everything else about it. What is installation like on this one? Comperable to most others? Thanks

BTW, like the steps TX Fx4
