HHIFX4,

I have been considering the Manik too. Someone here replaced their's with a different one after a few months because they said it wasn't "solid enough" and that it started to rust after just a few months.

I saw it in the JCWhitney Truck catalog for 2004 F150 at $539.95 (PN# AJP518652YF) JCW was offering a $50 gift certificate for ordering and there is a coupon in the front of the catalog for 15% off if you spend $200 or more and they have FREE shipping until 1/26/05. That brings the total down to ~$410.

From the website, they don't have it labeled as Manik, but it clearly is the Manik in the paper catalog. You might try www.jcwtruck.com to order a catalog or Manik Grill Guard to see the one I am talking about.

I still haven't decided which guard to get, but there is one in my very near future (probably before 1/26/05!!!) I would like to hear what others think of their Manik. Personally, I don't like the Ranchhand (maybe if I had a SD) or the RoadArmor (Mad Max style).

Good luck!

EDIT: FREE SHIPPING may NOT apply to large items. Just read the fine print. Not sure about the Manik Grill Guards, but didn't want to mislead anyone. Buyer beware!

This is probably my next mod also and I was leaning toward either the Manik or Westin black powder. I've heard that you don't lose your tow hooks with the Manik, but you do with Westin. Does anyone know the scoop on this. I like the way they both look on the 04.

I don't know about Manik, but I can speak on the Westin. I personally have the black Westin brush guard and you do not lose your tow hooks.

You can see pics in my gallery.

Man....thanks Jerry. I've been waiting a long time to see some pics of a silver FX4 with the black powder brush guard. Yours is the first I've seen and I like it. Thanks for the info.

I got the Wagg brush guard because IMO it fit better than the rest. I have had it for over a year now and not a bit of rust.

I have the one-piece black Manik brush/grille guard. I haven't had any problems with rusting, etc. I really like it. Mine is more for looks and bumper protection. You DO lose your tow hooks with this one! Pics are in my gallery. I bought mine from the dealership for $400 plus tax. That included installation! Other local custom shops were able to get it for me, but I got the best price from my dealership (oddly enough).

This is the GSP guard from 4 Wheel Parts. I don't know who builds it for them but it's really similar to the Manik. You don't lose your tow hooks with this one either. Caught it on sale for $299.

Ranch Hand Is Heavy Duty

I installed a Ranch Hand grill guard on my 2004 Screw 4X4 which I love. It is truly heavy duty! You can see them on ranchhand.com.

Sorry, I don't have a gallery up yet.

Mine was about $450 installed at the Rhino liner dealer in Austin, Tx.

Sorry for the late reply. No I don't currently have any front side pics. I'll search my laptop to see if I have any stored that I haven't downloaded yet.

About the pitch, the two front vertical beams are shaped a little forward, I believe it's to clear the front grill when the hood is opened.
