I don't know which kind to get. Another thing after doin a lil research. I found that my scab might have the rear windows that open. In a screw me over scheme by ford. Apparently hamradio has an xl and he took off the rear panels and he had the manual regulators. I am pretty confident that my stx does have the manual regulators. Does anyone know if I could buy a 4 window kit and use it for the back two. I am gonna take that rear panel off and check today (btw is there a special way to remove the rear panel). So does it basically slip on the end and crank the crank mechanically? How hard or easy is the mod thanks.
Or should I just get these bad boys

I just recently installed the second kit that you linked to on my truck, I am somewhat satisfied with the kit. My likes are, now I have power windows... My dislikes are 1. I keep getting rattles, have taken my door panels off about 3 different times now to chase down annoying rattles. 2. The passenger window for some reason is about half the speed of the drivers side which is pretty slow compared to factory PW's, but heck like I said, at least I'm not cranking them my self. 3. be very careful when installing the gear sleeve over the small gear that you put on the end of the crank gear (you'll understand that statement better when you get the kit). There is a small set screw you are supposed to screw in between the sleeve and gear in a groove, if your kit is like mine doing this will cause the cheap plastic to split on the sleeve. I had to get the seller to send me a new sleeve, which he did and then I just used super glue between the two parts which worked fine. Besides that I am happy with the kit. I bought from the same seller that you linked to, the kit was on my doorstep in 3 days from California. He was also very responsive to emails and like I said he sent me a replacement part no questions asked. If you do this kit be sure and spend extra time binding and insulating wires with foam, brace the motor and drive assembly with as many braces as possible and cover with foam padding to prevent rattles. I think I now have most of my rattles fixed, although for some reason on extremely cold mornings (freezing or below) I still get a hint of a rattle in the passenger door, but only on my extemely rough paved road that goes back to my subdivision. Everywhere else I am rattle free, I can live with that. It probably took me 4 or 5 hours to do the install, which I put in power locks and keyless entry at the same time, which I highly recomend. I think now that I know what I am doing I could probably do the entire job in less than 2 hours and probably do it without rattles
Oh ya, something else I did, instead of cutting the crank holes out bigger in the door panel I just cut the back flange off the plugs and siliconed them onto the panel so I will always have the option of going back to the window cranks and my panel wont be disfigured if I do.

BTW I only paid $79.82 each for the stock power regulators for the front doors and a similar price earlier this year for the rear doors. Of course that did not include my cost to design the harness and switches. I probably have about $300 total in this for all four doors.
These are the Ford part numbers for the front regulators.

They list at $106.43 each.. The price they gave me was $79.82 ea.
I do not have the info around anymore on the rear door regs.
Try this link to get to their web page: http://www.fordpartsnetwork.com
This is from Bob Utter Ford in Sherman Texas. You have to search around a bit to find what you want in their catalogs. BTW be sure and go the "Online Catalog" selection.

well i'll be damned i took all five screws out! There are the top two in the picture and then two in the handle and then there is one on the very bottom centered correct? Once I get all those off I just give it a good yankin? It makes me cringe to hear the panels like I am breaking them off. I am gonna try to make the install as sturdy as possible seeing how I like to off-road and drive my truck rough and all. I really appreciate all the help that I am getting from everyone on here. RjA150 for the details, and Hamradio for the back windows. Hamradio how many clips are on the back panel and where about are they? So the speaker is gonna off with the door too? Which motor would you recommend for the back windows? Just post a link I would really appreciate it. Thanks for all the info guys. Getting excited to order!!!

I'll look for the link to the rear door regulators and post em asap.

You can choose the "w/super cab" selections. I do see their prices have changed a bit since I ordered mine. But still a good deal.

Hamradio my doors do have the cranks in there!!!! I can't decide whether or not I am mad at Ford or not. Mad because they add them in there and then didn't put cranks, or happy because they atleast put the cranks in there. Okay ham I am ready to put those badboys in. Would this kit work? motors

So your feeling just like I did when I found the doors had the manual reg inside. Why would they do that and not include a manual handle??
haha yeah it does sound kind of cheap i am telling myself it is because they are a large distributor and they can afford to sell for cheap their rating are pretty high so that should count for something i suppose. so you are pretty sure that, that kit would work out which type of kit did you go with. i think they did it that way so that people would "have" to move up to the next package if they wanted the back power windows which is a pretty....bada$$ feature.
No Kit.
I did not order anyones kit. I bought original Ford power window regulators from Ford Parts Network. I did the wiring myself. So I am sure the regs will last awhile. If they don't then I know where to get replacements.

As my replacement power regulators are OEM they fit exactically where the original manual regulators mounted. They do not work like the ones your looking at. They work just like the manual one you see in your door except there is no handle spline sticking out, just a motor on the side of the central hub. The ones you are looking at have you mounting a motor remotely someplace inside the door and then it turns your original crank spline.
Yes mine did cost me more than what your contemplatiing but I felt going with the OEM units would be less of a headache considering I would not have to find a place to mount the remote motors and drill holes all over the place.
On the plus side of the aftermarket type is if the motor or mechanix of the unit fail you can always slap the manual handle back on and open the window. That is for the front doors only.
Not having any experence with the after market variety, I don't know how they will work out. If they don't then your only out a minimum of dollars and you time. By using the OEM units I bought I knew they would work out but at a higher cost.

The ones I bought are exact replacement for the manual regulators you now have. You remove your regulators and install the new ones. The motor is an integral part of the new regulator. The pricing at Ford Parts Network seems to change everytime I go to their web site. So for the times I ordered the back and front door units It cost me about $320-340. Then you need to factor in a wiring harness and switches of which you can make yourself or purchase seperately. I have another $50-60 in the switches and wiring. If you purchase an aftermarket switch kit they run from $125 up.
So its up to you how much you want to spend. Your looking at $400 plus to go the way I did. Now thats a long way from the $99 kit for the four windows your looking at. If I had not found the OEM units I might have tried going the aftemarket route too. I'm happy with what I have and got to say I spend WAY too much money on this truck!
