I just emailed Undercover to find out about the new locks and LED light. We can buy the new locks for $25.20, but they are not selling the LED light. The guys email said it was a hard install, and you might screw up the cover. Kind of doubt it, but anyways that you guys might want to know.

Quote from Undercover email:
"We can sell you the new locks at $25.20, but the light kit is something
we are not doing at this time, it's kind of a tricky installation and
could result in damage to your cover."

Just got mine installed yesterday on my black 04 SCrew. I love it! Cost me $629 installed here in VA. The new locks and light are an added bonus. However, I think I might want to hardwire the lights in and install lock actuators. If I do, I would be glad to sell the locks and lights to an older model owner, but that probably won't be for a while.

Can you open the tailgate without popping the lid up on the undercover?

Also is it necessary to lock the tailgate and 2 locks on the cover for it to be secure?

Where is the handle to open the cover?

The Undercover must be opened in order to open the tailgate. You don't necessarily have to open the cover completely to access the tailgate--the gas struts usually hold the cover up after it's been opened a few inches.

If you are concerned about someone getting into your stuff, then you should lock the Undercover's locks. However, if don't have anything in the truck bed and want to keep the cover from opening while you are driving, then just twist the locks to secure the mechanism--in this case, there's no need to use the key.

To open, just push up on the tailgate end of the Undercover. It has gas struts and it's fairly lightweight, so it's easy to open. There's also a nylon strap inside to help you pull the Undercover closed.

Hi Vader, the light is slightly visible in the pic, its white behind the pull down strap. It is 3 LED's running on watch batteries....self contained

The new locks to speak of I think are better with a plastic cover that protects the cylinder - I think the older models had the cylinder exposed and they didn't have the twist to lock feature...I'm sure someone will chime in about that.

How well does the light work in lighting the bed. It seems that the light is on the part of the cover that is in the air and not put light in the bed.

Also how much is just the light? Thanks
