Angry Galpin Ford...Truck Problems --

So I've had many problems with my truck since I bought it. My in-dash cd player ate up my cd's and decided not to give them back to me. My rear seat air conditioning wasn't working. And it also looked like the back window molding wasn't completely finished. So I took it into a trustworthy shop that I know of and they ran the VIN number through the computer... turns out Galpin Ford sold me a XLT with Lariat styling when I PAID for a Lariat... Now they are saying they will fix up everything to Lariat standards... but resale value of the truck is decreased... So I'm trying to get a brand new Lariat... wondering if there's anything I could do cause the dealership seems hesistant on giving me a brand new one.

thats messed up. When you bought the truck did you buy one that says lariat? or xlt? If you bought a lariat and they didnt give you a lariat then there is something wrong there. You should defnitly get a new truck or at least get your money back.

Something dosen't sound right. Is it badged a Lariat? If yes and it is indeed an XLT then that's fraud. Was the vehicle purchased used? Get a lawyer and waste no more time with the dealer unless a NEW truck is waiting.

Do you have any pics of this lariat/xlt?

How could you not tell the difference?

You PAID for a XLT, its the consumers lack of knowledge on this one.

What did the window sticker say when you purchased this so called "Lariat"

I may just be talking out of my a$$ at the moment but it sounds like false advertising, most dealerships will put a higher sticker price on a lower end model if the car/truck is well equipped. But never heard of a company putting a lariat price tag on a well equipped XLT, or even saying it's a Lariat when its actually an XLT. I mean hell, the fender badge should say "5.4 liter Lariat" on it. (Right )

Yes, I remember seeing the October FX4 on ebay and at Flips Tires I guess they did some work on fixing it up, don't know how much it sold for thow. Galpin fixes up some of there cars and calls them galpinized. I remember when I was looking for my 04 Lariat there. They had an 04 Lariat super crew which they put 2003 harley equipment and two-tone leather and upper and lower speed grille and jack up the window price $10,000. They wanted $45,000 for a 4X2 but I can get it for $39,000 with the x-plan.

Galpinized

caveat emptor - buyer beware.

Does this thing have leather seats? Leather steering wheel?
EATC? Power signal mirrors? Painted fender flairs?
Lariat guage cluster?

If it doesnt have all of these things, it cannot be a Lariat.

Don't be pissed at the seller, be pissed at yourself if you
cannot tell the difference between a Lariat and an XLT.

While some of the responsibility should be placed on the buyer to do their research, some of the blame has to go to the dealer who tried to "pull a fast one" and got caught. I believe that selling a XLT truck as a Lariat would be considered fraud. This buyer should call his state attorney general to see if he can open a case.

I do agree with Suncoast though, I would have definitely known the difference when looking at trucks unless they had done a significant amount of work. Did the truck have all of the options listed on the window sticker?

An attorney would be a good idea only if you are sure you can convince others that there was fraud. Does the window sticker, factory or add-on state Lariat? Does the sales order from the purchase list the options and or packages and state Lariat? If it has Lariat badges and can show or prove they were on the truck prior to your purchase you may have a slim chance, but likely it will become a pi**ing contest.
