I have family in Ashland, Lexington, and Versailles that I visit about once a year.

FYI, I tried the filter placement as suggested by RP and the noice is substanially less at WOT.

Next time you're down this way, give me a little heads up and maybe we can grab a frosty one.

Anyone know of a site where I can host a short video (Quick Time ~2.5MB) demonstrating cabin noice @ WOT with Airforce One Intake?

jrack04,

Too bad you don't have a video with the sound with the stock intake so you could compare them. The sound on the video is accurate but there's no reference. Hard to judge the sound level in the cab.

That is why I had a few seconds of low rpm cruising on the video. There is no audible difference between the Airforce One and stock intake at low rpms. Anyone else with a video to compare?

There's one with the AF1 and Magnaflow 3" SISO exhaust here for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

ok guys I have devised something something that quiets this intake down alot. I was watching this intake the other day and noticed the filter vibrates up and doun alot even at idle. I think this is due to the soft rubber boots at the neck of the filter and at the carb. so las night I decided to take a coated metal hanger I cut it off at 17 3/4 length I then bent the ends arround in a loop about the size big enough to fit a 1/4 inch bolt through. then I bent the loops out at a 90 deg. angle from the hanger. I then bent the hanger in a loop to wrap arround the neck of the rubber boot on the filter and removed the screws holding the air box down. and put them through each end of the hanger. and screwed it down to anchor the filter down tight. this worked alot better than I thought it would. it is alot quieter at wot now its about the same as my magnafow exhaust in loudness. which is quiet enough for me. I think if someone wanted to quiet it even more they could anchor the end of the filter the same useing the third mounting screw for the air box. I believe the soft rubber neck on the filter it the culprit for this noise. I would imagine in time as this rubber ages it will become harder and not so noisy. here is a pic of this mod I did. its not pretty but it is effective.

I don’t see how that could make it run any quieter

I believe it makes it run quieter because the filter vibrates up and down alot causing the tube to vibrate up and down piviting at the center mounting point on the tube. you can simulate this easy enough by pulling up and down on the end of the filter it moves quite easy. I could see it vibrating up and down at idle sometimes. I could imagine what it did at wot. after anchoring in down it hardly moved up and down when I puled on the end of the filter. the end of the filter did move up and down as the rubber neck flexed but not nearly as much. now if one could keep the end of the filter from vibrating up and down I believe it would be even quieter. just a theory. but it has proven effective so far. now if I can devize something that looked hlf way decent. I have been mulling it over for some time now. I am now thinking of ideas to restrain the end of the filter. hopefully I come up with something that looks better. I think I will get me a chain cut to length for the front and maybe a strap or something that wont damage the end of the filter. I'll think of something.
