exhaust for 2005 5.4L 3v

I am having a hard time deciding between 3 mufflers, flowmaster delta flow 40series 3inSI/2.5DO, flowmaster deltaflow 50series3inSI/2.5DO , or mangaflow 5x8x18 3inSI/2.5DO.
I want a agressive sound that isnt to loud, I have a little one so cant make it to to loud. but at the same time i want to be heard any links for sound bite would be great or anyone that has the set up and can give me some eye opening opions

sounds like you should consider the 40 series deltaflow. I think it was made to compete w/ magnaflow's 'quietened' aggressive sound.

i seem to see alot of people like the magnaflow, One of the local shops by my house installs both flowmaster and magnaflow and he said the better of the two is the magnaflow, for sound and performance.
my main thing is sound and performance. but anything is going to be better than the stock exhaust.

I've got Magnaflow on mine (2005 with the 5.4 engine) and absolutely love the sound! From the description you gave of what you are looking for, I don't think you could go wrong with a SIDO Magnaflow Cat-Back system!

PS -- In case you've already been there, don't be "thrown" by the sound-clip that's on the Magnaflow website - the sound of the actual system is much more aggressive than what's on their audio/video clip!

The Magnaflow sounds good in that clip, but yesterday I got a 2 chamber Flowmaster 40 series SIDO and it is loud, maybe more than you want with a kid, but not obnoxious. It has a great deep tone as well. I'll try to figure out how to make a sound clip.

I just installed Magnaflow # 12245, 5 x 8 x 18, put it on myself, used stock exit pipe and just had to add a 14" piece in front of the new muffler. The Magnaflow cost me $129.00, 14" piece of pipe $5.00, welding was done for a 6 pack of Sam Adams. Sounds like it has ***** but not too loud!

Hi Fordsoldier I have an 04 3valve 5.4 with true dual magnaflows and the rear cats removed. I origionally had a set of 40 series flowmasters with the same set up but traded them out for the magnaflow, and I must say that it was one of the smartest moves I have ever made when it comes to performance. The power gains over the flowmaster were imediatley noticable, and the sound, while more docile at idle is more agressive in the mid to high rpm range. In short go with magna flow. If you would like I will try to get a sound clip loaded for u to hear.

Would love to hear it, the more sound clips and vid's the merrier. I too am deciding between borla, flow's and magnaflows. My original hunch was to go with the flow's but the performance gains seem to be unnoticeable as everyone seems to say (correct me if I'm wrong)...and everyone is saying the magnaflows have a much more noticeable gain in power, I am really into sound but just a tad more in performance, so I think I will go with Magnaflows unless someone from borla or even flowmaster will tell me different. Happy choosing!

Why? The piping is not all that expensive.

What are you talking about ? It would cut the price in half ! piping , muffler and labor v's just a muffler and a five minute weld.

i think you will like the results better if you went with a cat back system, simpley you would elimate all the kinks and cheap bends from the stock pipes and go with mandrel bent that come with the cat back system.. better flow, but understanding you have to do what is in your budget.
