KC lites

Looking to get a pair of 6" round KC slimlites in black with stone guards. I just can't decide on the 100watt driving or 130 watt long range(under $10 difference).

What do ya'll think? What is everyone else using and why? I don't plan to do any off-roading, just want them mainly for looks, but will on ocassion use them on dark country roads and the a**who won't turn off his high beams.

Unless you're running in the desert at speed, you'll almost always want a set of driving lights (with some sort of focused/fluted lens) as opposed to a pencil spot (with no focusing bumps/flutes in lens.) A driving light will light up a deserted road at night, allowing you to see better, even around curves to some degree, and will usually be MUCH brighter than your stock headlights. A spot will light up a stop sign at 20 miles, but won't light up the side of the road right in front of your truck.

Thanks for the info NukePooch. I was leaning towards the driving ones, but wasn't sure. (sorry for the late reply)

No problem...I knew a guy who bought the pencil spots (Daylighters) cause they "looked cool" and ended up not ever using them cause they blinded everyone down the trail and didn't light up the large ditch right in front of the truck...Expensive decor, in my opinion.

Get the driving ones and put 130w bulbs in them. Best of both worlds.

Thanks guys

BalogUK, I'm not sure if it is considered lo profile or not. I got mine at PepBoys for ( I think ) under $50. The brand is AVS(auto vent shade) I love it and have used this brand in the past with great results. I think Lund supplies the shields for Ford and Lund owns(or is owned by) AVS. I had mine on for over a year now. Just be prepared for "hood flutter" at the cowl at highway speeds with any deflector from the change in aerodynamics. This is fixed very easily in 5 min. The shield is rock solid at any speed.
