How difficult to install porterfield pads?
Hi guys... This afternoon I'm going to drive down to Porterfield in Costa Mesa to get front pads. Here'e the thing; I've never done a brake job before. How difficult is it to change out the pads? I've done some mechanical work before, but never had to need to tackle brakes. Does anyone have pics of how to do it?
Also, I am thinking that I'm only going to replace the fronts, since that's where I'm having the problems (noise & dust). But should I also do the rears?
Any help would be appreciated... Thanks.

I’ve changed my pads on my old 93 Ranger, it’s pretty easy. Here is a link to an article I found with step-by-step instruction.

When I bought my 2004 f150 super crew I drove up to Costa Mesa and bought the Porterfield Pads for my front breaks. I didn’t have anytime to do them myself so I went to my local break repair shop and had them put the fronts on for me, they just charged me for the installation fee, 60 bucks. Totally fixed my problems with squealing and break dust!!

Its pretty easy to change the pads on the truck. I just did the front and it took me about 45 min. this was the first time i changed pads before. my old truck had drum brakes on it.
pop hood and open your power brake fluid lid just set it on top. you just need to release pressure when you push in the things that push the pad against the rotor.
take off tire
on the back of the caliper there are 2 bolts one top and one bottom.
take them out.
pull the calliper away from the rotor.
the pads should just slide out
repleace pads
there should be 2 cirlce looking things that push the pad against the rotor you need to take the c clamp and push them back in so you can put the caliper with the new pads back onto the rotor
put the 2 bolts back in
put tire back on
don't forget to put the cap back onto the power brake fluid
this is just a fast write up sorry if its not 100% correct I did it about 3 months ago and trying to remember what I did.

what clips? my pads did not come with clips?
There are clips in the caliper that hold the pads in place, is that what you're talking about? Those clips stay in there no matter what brand of pad you use.
