Lariat Cluster in My XLT
I don't know if there is a step by step other than my initial explanation. It is actually pretty easy. I haven't checked on pins because I have only been home about 7 days in the past month.
When we reprogrammed my cluster I had to have the old one. But they can actually just pull your as-built data from the ford website by using your VIN# and program it that way. Also unless you get the mileage programmed, no ford tech will install it. They can get in alot of trouble.
As far as the price of the dealer cluster, you can try and see if they will sell you one. My local dealer would sale me one, but it would be the cost of the cluster and I would have to pay the core on it because I would be returning an identical part. If I remember right, the cost of that alone exceeded $500 and that didn't include any programming.
ChrisAdams is right, Airun30 is the guy to buy from. He will list them when he has them so if there aren't any up there right now, be patient. Also make sure to check ebay motors for them.

Here is what Airun30 said in an email:
"I have one available and I don't know how long or if I will be able to get any more. Shipped and correct mileage programmed $250. Thanks, Aaron. First payment received is the buyer ,since I have Four people wanting it, just to let you know."

Yep...If I remember right, everything except for the A/C worked. I didn't test everything, but I know the A/C and the message center functions (because I didn't have the switch wired at that time) didn't work until after I reprogrammed the cluster and added the switch.

Pin 3 went to slot 10 (the other wire you had to add to the harness) of the right side instrument cluster harness. Pin 4 went to the Black wire on the left side instrument cluster harness. I made my own harness by putting heat shrink tube around each pin w/wire to cover the the metal, after all 4 pins w/wire were in place (pushed onto the message center switch pins), I labeled them, and then electrical taped them all together and then wrapped the tape around the plastic on the switch where the factory harness would plug into(you will understand what I mean when you see the switch). This should prevent any moving and keep everything snuggly in place.

Yes, a wire tap will work although most don't recommend them. I think the recommended way of doing it is to solder the wires together, but you do what works for you. (I did the wire tap.
)
LB-RD = Light Blue/Red wire

Did you get your cluster reprogrammed at your dealer?
Your A/C won't work until you do. Have them program "as built" data
into the cluster as talked about in this thread. Will take less than half an hour.

Just a quick question.
As-built data programming, does this happen with the new cluster installed or out of the truck?
Will the truck even start by swaping in an unprogrammed cluster since the anti-theft is part of the cluster?
