Once again looks great, thanks for link. I know some don't like the wood grain, I do. Question, how hard was it to put on?

Peel - N - Stick.....it was a piece of cake. Took a few minutes to put it all on. I am a fan of english burlwood, which is why I put that in my truck. They stick very well, I haven't had any problems at all.

Looks good, Just a question for you and don't take it the wrong way, but why didn't you just buy a Lariat? I loaded up an xlt and it was only $3290.00 msrp less then the Lariat so I ordered the Lariat.

The differences were...Instrument cluster, leather heated seats, power passenger seat, Automatic Temp Control, homelink garage door opener, memory seat and pedals, control center on dash, leather steering wheel cover, sterring wheel audio & heating controls, 18" wheels and tires/with goodyear option, Lighted vanity mirrors. I think thats about it. My sticker price is in my gallery. I not sure about the subwoofer option.

I am not a huge fan of leather. Both of my parents have leather seats in their fords, and I didn't like riding on them.

However, I might consider leather if it's in a King Ranch. Something about the saddle leather that is appealing.

Plus when I bought it money was extremely tight, so it was that or nothing. Things have now taken a turn for the better, and had I waited 3 or 4 more months, I could have gotten the lariat or king ranch.

My sticker was around $37,000, and with d plan and rebates I ended up around $28,000 ish, I can't remember the exact amount. The weird thing is, my truck is loaded to the max. The only things I don't have is audiophile (I have 6disc mp3), heated seats, homelink and eatc. I have power everthing, power sliding rear window, power drivers seat, moon roof, heated mirrors, adjustable pedals, 5.4, 3.55 LS rear axle, reverse sensing, tow package, bedliner, bed extender, etc.... It almost seemed like a mistake for the price so I jumped on it.

There is a pretty good chance I will sell it anyways when the 06 king ranch comes out. Especially if they have the side curtain airbags. But thats another story for another day!

I was thinking of putting a Lariat cluster in my FX4 just to have the added information. So everything in the cluster works, as far as the information center etc?

Thanks Ian

yes everything works. I get the trip timer, the tripometer, avg mpg, mile left until tank is empty, compass, temperature, and can set the unit for different languages (not sure which ones), etc.... I do get warning messages such as door ajar, and have been able to do a system check, which checks oil level, brake fluid level and some other things successfully. I haven't heard the low fuel warning yet as I still have a full tank. I can hear tones though when I push the buttons, it sounds like its coming from the speakers, but I could be wrong about that. So I am pretty sure the low fuel warning will work.

Did I miss anything that a normal lariat has?

One thing I really like about it is, you can actually see the temp, compass, mileage, and tripometer all at the same time. No more picking between the mileage or tripometer.

Plus it looks a million times better when lit up at night.

I am not a big fan of leather myself but it was the only way I could get heated seats. All the options I mentioned are only available on Lariat and you cannot get them as options on an XLT, even loaded to the max, at least not in Canada. If i didn't mention it, then you can get it on a XLT, moonroof, power pedals, reverse sensing etc... but these are the differences

Lariat options only ************************

[QUOTE=FeelTheThunder]I am not a big fan of leather myself but it was the only way I could get heated seats QUOTE]
That must be a Great North thing, as I had a couple of Super Crew two tone cloth seats, with memory, heat, power, lumbar, etc. that I 'gutted' a few months ago. Nice heaters. Sold them through the classifieds in here, as heated seats don't make a lot of sense in my area.

On that Lariat IP, how much did the switches cost? And did you put in the plastic lower panel where the switches are located?
Thanks
Chris

Edited because I had phrased in wrong. I am looking for info on putting in the three switches. Swapping the IP is something I have done several times. But the panel below the wheel, with the black switches, is what I am asking about.

It is one switch with the three buttons. I cut it out with a dremel and slid it in place. It was prepared to buy one with the hole already there if I screwed it up, but I was patient and took my time and it worked out alright. I put mine in the exact same place it is located in the lariat, just to the right of the steering wheel.

The cost was around $50 for me (employee cost), if you can't get employee cost it will probably be between $75 - $100.

Thanks for the info, is that the price just for the switch unit itself? I would probably want to buy the under dash piece if I decide to do this one, as my skills with Dremel are not legendary.

Looked at your dash again, Dang that is sweet.

The piece of the dash that the switch goes into is one big piece. It is the piece that extends up and around the entire cluster and back down the other side. I didn't price one though so I am not sure, but maybe around $100, possible a little more. But that is just a guess.

I also added the Lariat cluster to my XLT.
Ford sells a wiring pigtail fot the (3) button switch.
Part number WPT-586. I bought mine for $19.90.
It has (6) wires, but only need to use (4).
Didn't know you could buy the pins for the I.P. connectors, so I soldered
leads to the back of the cluster and then soldered the pigtail to these leads.
I haven't cut the hole for the switch yet. I'm going to order the cluster
trim panel with the hole already in it. Best price on the net I've found
is $147.00

Is eveything on your lariat cluster still working? Are the warnings and low fuel and mpg all working still?

Thanks

Everything is still working great. The low fuel warning scared the ***** out of me the first time it went off, I wasn't expecting it and I thought there was something wrong with my truck.

No problems to report. Although I think I will go pick up the wiring pigtail that gchuff mentioned and put that in as well. It will make connecting/disconnecting a little easier.

Good to know that. My dealer is willing to do the install for me, I am going to bring them a printout of this topic. Is there anything else you can think of that I may need to tell my dealer?

Thanks
