GPS mount?

I just bought a Magellan Roadmate a few weeks ago and love it! Don't know how I got around without it.

Anyways, do any of my fellow 04 or 05 owners have one of these or something similiar? If so, where do you have your doo whitzit mounted? I put mine in the infamous "tray" on the dash. Anyone ever been under that thing? I'd like to do something a little different. Maybe some kind of semi-permanent mount screwed through the tray. Plus, I think the windshield suction cup looks kinda bad. Just think I could do something that would look a little better. Putting this in the 04/05 forum since we're the only folks blessed with the "tray".

That tray is held in by two screws. You have to pull the radio/a/c surround off, eight firm, sharp clips. Look at radio replace or change in searching for very exact instructions to remove the radio.
The tray has two screws at the front, then just lifts out. You can poke holes in it to your hearts content, lots of free space under it.

I would hard wire the unit into the electric circuit and custom fab a housing on top of the tray which flush mounts the GPS unit inside.

gps mounts

I have the Garmin 2610 and it sets about 4 or 5 inches to the left of where you have yours in the little valley above the air vent..It's easier to view and easier to adj.

I use a bag type mount that lets me pop the whole unit quickly out of sight during public stops. It rides either in the dash valley on the highway or in the center tray for the rough!

Thanks for the ideas everyone! Think I'll try moving it to the left.

I'd like to have it under the rear view mirror, but if it falls, I'd be sad.

I use a ram-mount for my Garmin. You can see a pic of part of it in my gallery. Its currently holding my sat radio receiver.

www.cycoactive.com has a few different mounts.

Yes, it's the Garmin iQue 3600. I've got a 512Mb card and Topo maps ... It's the cat's meow! Can be seen on the dash for navigation and I use an auxiliary battery pack that runs off of 4AA rechargeable for the ATV's to extend the battery life greatly ... will probably just tap into the 12v battery there one of these days ...

I've had and used many other GPS's and this one just works for everything ... everyday ... day-in day-out!
