The next thing to borrow from the LT

I looked inside of the LT the other day (I was in an airport and they had one sitting there) and I noticed the 'wood' on the center console and doors was pretty nice looking. It was dark, but did not have the 'polyurethane plastic sheen from hell' look. The only problem is the ash tray door has 'LINCOLN' on it. I'm wondering if those letters could be taken off with a heat gun or something. Has anybody else noticed this 'wood' look?

I like the real ebony wood too. Has anyone priced this for their F-150?

I think I'll call tomorrow and price it. The only problem is the "LINCOLN" on the ash tray.. Maybe I'll try to buy that piece seperately and see how hard the letters would be to take off.

Hmm... that interior looked just like mine on the one that I looked at... maybe I didn't look closely enough (I was running from a herd of sales people coming out of the show room).

The wood on the 05 F150s is darker than the wood on the 04s...and to me the LT wood looked just like the 05 F150 wood.

I've looked at several of the LT's and are you certain that's real wood? I'd doubt it.....it is different and nice looking - but you'd be hard pressed to find real wood on any Ford product. My Lincoln LS (fully loaded model - still only had the plastic "wud")....

yep it is wood.

Saw a review of it yesterday on Motor week or some such show.

Their final review: Looks like an F150 with aftermarket parts.

Pretty well sums it up. For that kind of money I'd take a KR any day. The LT is nice but isn't much better than a Lariat and can't touch the King.

Well so much for my thought of buying just the ashtray piece to see if I could get the lincoln letters off. The entire center dash portion sells as one piece for $365. The parts guy also couldn't find the pieces for the doors... Maybe somebody else here can help. I don't know if I would risk the $365 without knowing how the letters are installed, and not knowing if I could replace the door pieces.
