Question What do i need to fit 15" wheels?

Before i bought my truck i had the idea of putting on a black 15 inch wheel/tire combo. Not untill after while detailing my truck i realized i could'nt.
So, since the stock brake's won't do it, what do i change them with? What do i swap them with, i'm thinking i can trade down while someone trade's up who likes big wheels.

not only is this the worst idea ever, but there's a reason why the rotars are that size.

You would need an older truck.
17 is the bottom line.
Sorry.

I've seen custamized trucks with them in magazines, it can't be that far off of an idea.

You will need different axles (or at least different axle hubs). If you haven't noticed, the new F150's have 6 lug nuts and the older F150's with 15" rims have 5 lugs. Sorry, but you can't get 6 lugs into 5 holes (even if the brakes weren't in the way).

Of course anything is possible and if someone wanted to put a smaller, older axle on a new truck then you might get all the kinks worked out to where you could drive it. But then your judgement might be questioned by those whom you wish to impress.

Cool

Why in the world would you want smaller wheels? The size of this truck as well as the wheel well size dictates larger if anything on the size of the wheels.

You could do a solid axle swap from a late 60's model F-150 or Bronco. Of course this would be a step backwards and I don't think you could get the ABS to work with the rear drum brakes.
Face it, it will be about a million times easier to buy some 17 or 18 inch wheels and tires.

That fact the a 5 lug pattern won't work with a 6 never enter'd my mind What i had in mind was F250 or E250 parts, the idea of a solid axle was my first choice in buying a truck, abut the price was a bit to high for me. Also, you think my judgement is questionable because i want to impress someone! Thats a completly stupid comment. If you read my first post, i wanted that before i bought the truck. Also if i want to personalize my vehicle the way i want it i try to figure out how. Just like i did with my auto mustang gt, i switched it to manual because i wanted to. not to impress people, Ask anyone here why they moddify there truck. It's to personalize it to make it unique in their own way. Aparently the trend now-a-days is bigger wheel's, fine. Thats your vision for your truck. Not Mine. This forum should realy be more open minded

if you don't care what people think, why are you changing the appearance?

Yeah, just all those women that spend an hour in the bathroom that "don't care how people think they look"

Did you read what i said, it's because " i " like smaller wheels. And the stock appearance is not what " i " want in a truck. Just like other people change wheels, to create the truck they have in their minds eye. Not the guy sitting next to him at a stoplight.

All i'm hearing is people saying it's not a good idea, with no other explanation than " there's a reason they have big wheels and brakes" If anyone has'nt noticed, they still have trucks that tow big loads, curb weight over 4500lbs and go off-road with just 15" wheels. Why don't i get anyone trying to figure this question out and settle it. I've seen it on other F-150's. I just don't know how it's done. But, so far no one here has been any help what so ever. The mustang forums i've been on in the past has always had professional people to give me straight answere's. Since writing to this forum has been more difficult than easy. I'll call around to supension companys, shops around town. And ford. It'll take longer, but maybe i'll have someone with some real knowlegde to give me the truth.

I'd be better off reading off-road magazine's (how-to-guides) to get some real advise.

you can put 15" wheels on a current f250?

i know that even on the '97-'03 f150's the smallest you can go is 16". i have seen 15's on a couple of '97's but they were a very close fit and i believe the only reason they fit is because they didnt have front abs?

be prepared to do the brakes often because the brakes your truck came with dont handle the weight of your truck very well as it is right now. smaller brakes will cause you grief.

if you went to a Mustang forum and proposed putting 13" wheels on it, I guarantee you'd get the same response
