Question "Zone" Display on Tripometer Gauge?? Odd!

I always restart my tripometer gauge every time I fill the truck up totally with gas just to get an idea of my mpg. The other night, however, I pushed the button to get to the tripomter, held it down to reset it, and after I did, the top part that reads the Temp read "Zone 09". I hit the button again and it went back to the total miliage and temp reading. I hit it again to go back to the Tripometer reading and held it down and let go and then it said "Zone 07".

I grabbed my manual and read ALL over and couldnt not find a THING about this. Has anyone else seen this? Know what it means?? I thought it was kind of weird!

I think it has to due with location based relative humidity, elevation etc, stuff all factored in for the outside temp, compass, and other weather sensing stuff found on these trucks.

Yes it is your compass and it is in your manual. Based on your location in the country you need to set your compass to the correct zone. This adjust the compass so that it can correctly identify NSEW based on magnetic changes in your specific areas. Check the manual.

Might wanna sift through your owners manual and make sure that the compass is set to the proper zone still.

Ah. I didnt look under compass. I dont see how I held the button too long.. I held it until the gauge reset and then let go and the zone thing popped up. I was wondering if it was for location or something. Makes sense. Thanks guys!!

Check out page 71 in the Owner’s Guide it shows the compass zone / calibration adjustment.

Wink

Better find a culdasac or empty parking lot. I did the same thing a few months back, after reading the manual on how to reset the compass I found myself driving around in a circle 4 times.

Laugh if you will but this is sort of a bizarre qawinkydink ... 2 guys at work just had their zone message show up this week!!!

Got a big chuckle out of reading this thread for some reason!?
