Consider this controller http://www.brakesmart.net/index.htm
I hate my, hang off the dash, digital controller.... constant adjusting, ugly, and I hit my knee on it all the time.
If you look at the dimension page of the above URL, you will see it will almost perfectly fit where the lighter is (the rounded edges of the lighter face plate look the same as the brakesmart)
I've been meaning to get one, but the price keeps me from jumping on it....soon I will. And when I do, it will be mounted in the lighter face plate.
I just wish someone would beat me to it, so I can see it mounted....to make me want one that much more

I really like that one and was looking at it this morning.... but on the site it says they are delayed shipping and I need a controller for next wednesday--- Down the road I may end up buying it anyways -
I agree 100% with yob2kanobe, thats the controler I have and love it.. I have mine mounted to the right of the steering colum at the bottom.. The location is directly infront of the plug that is up under the dash.. That should give you an idea.

I also have a Prodigy. Best I've ever used! Have had 3 others. I mounted mine in my Lariat in the useless "cubby" under the pop out cup holder. The cubby is easily removed, and I drilled a hole in the back to allow the wiring harness to pass through. The mounting cradle is "permanently" mounted there, and I just slide in the controller when I need to use the trailer. Works for me!!

It's a BrakeForce by Hoppy. Nothing fancy. I mounted it to the right of the Data Link Connector. I put 2 or 3 screws close together on one side of the bracket, because the piece of metal its mounted too wasn't wide enough. It doesn't interfere with anything and is out of the way down there. I haven't used it yet though. I put it in because I was going to buy a travel trailer but then changed my mind.

Having the manual control lever at just the right spot is paramount to handling a bad situation when you need it! ... My opinion is; looks are secondary and safety functionality is first. Pick a spot that you can reach easily and comfortably and train yourself to be able to hit that control lever as fast as you can! Hopefully you'll never need to ... but in the event that you did it's nice to be ready!
I mounted my Prodigy on a little plate screwed to the bottom of the dash beside the emergency brake release. Drill two lilttle holes and the mounting bracket fits there perfectly. I could find no other reason for the plate to be there.

This is the one I just bought and I have been planning to mount it in the same location as tycreek.
