thinking about buying a new 150 Super Crew - questions
I just signed up today, and I have seen threads about bad paint, headlight lenses, wavy sheetmetal, noisy transmissions and a-hole dealers....
I love the look of the truck, and I know from friends that in the past, these were pretty bullet proof trucks - tell me these new models aren't lemons! These threads make prospective buyers pretty hesitant!

Ignore the cry babies... I love my screw and would buy another and another in a heartbeat. These trucks RULE. If your scared off by a few threads, wander over to the other truck sites for Nissan, Dodge, Gm, etc... you'll end up buying a used hooptie since those are the only vehicles that don't have forums with whiney loser owners.
I recently traded an 02 Silverado for my 05 XLT Screw. I love it. I did have throttle body issue at 1600 miles, the dealer fixed and they have been great. My truck is built better and has better materials than my Chevy did. I think most of us in here are truck nuts and we tend to emphasis the problem when there is one. I would bet that another brands forum would be similar. I would not trade my Ford for any other.
these are the answers I was hoping to see.
On to more important stuff.....
4.6 or 5.4? I know the 4.6 is a torquey little bugger, but this is a heavy truck - do you have to have the 5.4 for a "fun" drive?

I've not driven the new body truck with a 4.6L. But, if their anything like the pre-'04's, they've got power for what most of us need. Having said that, spend the extra $ and get the 5.4L. I promise if you don't, you'll regret it down the road. I have 16,500 miles on mine and it's been flawless! It amazes me every day how great the ride is and how quiet it is inside the cab. My hour drive home is relaxing because of this truck!
My advice, test drive all of them and see which one you like.

I drove a 4.6 for one day while the dealer replaced my throttle body. Could not wait to get the 5.4 back. All the difference in the world and the mileage is same. Both trucks were the Supercrew. The 4.6 might be adeqate for the regular cab but not the crew.
These are damn nice trucks. I've had my Lariat SCrew going on 8 months and it's solid as a rock.....no issues, just pure enjoyment
The (stock) 5.4 has plenty of power for me.
Just thought I'd add my 2 cents,

Frank,
This truck is the real deal. It has plenty of power, superior ride and great handling for being such a heavy truck. When making your decision keep in mind any future plans that you might have for the truck (i.e. towing). As with all major purchases buy the top-of-the-line that your budget can afford and you won't be dissappointed.
Since you asked engine recommendations I would like to suggest that you opt for the 5.4L. I have actually heard of people with the 4.6L having worse fuel milage because they are always mashing the gas pedal to try and achieve the perfomance of the 5.4L.
BTW If you have'nt notice but most of the threads in this forum are from people who have just completed or plan on modifications to inhance performance/appearance. Most people I know would not dump thousands of dollars and hours of hard work on a vehicle that they are not satisfied with.

This is from someone who is part of the so called " vib tribe" Even though I have had a problem with my truck it's still the best truck I have ever had. Would not even think about buying any thing other than a new F150. Hope this helps
LOVE LOVE LOVE my Screw XLT 5.4L!!! I tow horses and needed the HP and torque and also did NOT want a tiny little truck hauling around a big **** trailer with 1000lbs+ animals inside. I had towed with my fiance's quad cab 02 Dodge and it as substansial in size so I knew I wanted a bigger truck so I wouldnt even think twice about hauling anything. I test drove quite a few trucks and ended up with mine. Plus, its nice to know that I have more HP, torque, and a bigger engine than my fiance!
He cant stand it!

The problems stated on this forum are no worse than any other manufacturer.
Go to the Ford F150 website and check out 'the truth about trucks' - then go test drive one - you'll be hooked. I replaced a Tundra with absolutely no regrets.
