So in order not to remain a crab, i left the automotive field recently and now work as an IT consultant for a healtcare co.
but i wasnt trying to be too smart about it, just saying that i know for a fact that nothing in a 2004-current F150 has the capability of anything other than setting a DTC in the PCM, or recording speed and inertia in the event of a crash that sets off the passive restraints.

Well the PCM records driving habits and data because I pull information off of it all the time to get a discount on my car insurance through Progressive in their program. In their program you use their device to pull information off the PCM that tells them your driving habits. It can't raise your insurance but it makes you available for extra discounts if you're a safe driver. My PCM is black and it's a box shape, but I agree with ya, it's not a mysterious black box on a plane...just a little different but does similiar things.
